AR-15 STR STOCK COLLAPSIBLE MIL-SPEC

AR-15 STR STOCK COLLAPSIBLE MIL-SPEC Reviews & Ratings

An enhanced version of the Magpul CTR® stock, the STR (“Storage/Type Restricted”) buttstock features two 4¼" left- and right-side positioned battery storage tubes and a wider cheekweld for extra comfort. Rubber caps at the rear keep the storage compartments resistant to water incursion, yet pop off easily for access to two AA or two CR-123 batteries inside. Features two integral 1¼" sling loops. Includes reversible QD swivel socket. Friction locking mechanism minimizes wobble between the buffer tube and the buttstock for a solid, secure "feel", which is enhanced by the detachable .30" thick rubber rubber that adds plenty of "grab" to prevent shoulder slippage.

SPECS: Reinforced nylon polymer, Black, Dark Earth, or O.D. Green. 7ј" (18.4cm) OAL, 5ј" (13.3cm) high. LOP adjustment range: 3ј" (8.3cm). 12.5 oz (354g) wt. Mil-Spec – Fits mil-spec 1.14" O.D. carbine buffer tubes.

Very Good Purchase!
Overall, a very good product. It fits great on my Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport. Much more "aesthetically pleasing" than the standard factory stock. Also, the widened battery storage provided ABSOLUTELY GREAT positioning for your cheek and is 10x more comfortable. My only groan, and the reason for not rating 5 stars, is the fact that it took me an extra minute or two to install, must read direction beforehand. BUT, this installation method does make the product more secure to your rifle. Do yourself a favor, buy this stock. (Must be a MIL-SPEC buffer tube)

Nice, but a slight problem
Generally a very nice Magpul product. Installation wasn't as easy as described in the instructions and it isn't just me that is having problems. The plastic .223 cartridge they give you with the stock is supposed to be used to insert into a detent and lever the adjustment pin down to slide on the stock. It doesn't work and eventually people are breaking the cartridge. Even a small screwdriver didn't work as a lever. I had to use a larger screwdriver and pull down on a cross pin that goes through the adjustment pin from the side. The stock locks up tight and fits well with it's cheek weld. The battery compartment covers are large and made of a rubbery material. One of the two covers on mine droops slightly at the back. The material is fairly soft and allows this to happen. Overall it is a very nice buttstock. I always appreciate Magpul's secondary friction lock.
