AR-15 SFMB-556 MUZZLE BRAKE 22 CALIBER

AR-15 SFMB-556 MUZZLE BRAKE 22 CALIBER Reviews & Ratings

Thread-on muzzle devices give the tactical rifle shooter a variety of options for recoil reduction. Precision CNC machined to exact tolerances from high-quality stainless steel alloy that withstands extreme heat and gas particle erosion, even after thousands of rounds. Stands up to the intense tempo of combat conditions without loss of performance.

Substantially reduces muzzle rise and provides outstanding felt recoil reduction for better shot follow-through, improved accuracy, and faster follow-up shots. Advanced Impulse Diffusion™ technology diffuses muzzle blast to the sides, virtually eliminating gas dispersion back to the shooter and minimizing felt concussion to help keep the sights firmly on the target. When used in conjunction with a SOCOM Series suppressor, the patent-pending design of the muzzle brake provides multiple bearing surfaces to ensure superior suppressor alignment. A rear labyrinth seal minimizes potential carbon buildup in the indexing system and facilitates suppressor removal after extended firing. All SureFire SOCOM Series muzzle brakes have blind pilot holes at the 3 and 9 o’clock position to enable fine-tuning of recoil characteristics for individual shooting styles or ammunition characteristics. They also have blind pilot holes at the 6 o’clock position to enable indexing the adapter at bottom dead center, and to pin-and-weld on short-barreled rifles. All that is required is a basic hand drill and appropriate drill bits. SureFire muzzle brakes are individually inspected for concentricity and alignment, and each is covered by SureFire’s No-Hassle Guarantee.

Recoil reduction
Ironically... The rifle i have this model on was never shot suppressed. My Coyote hunting rifle wore the suppressor for years. I did quite a bit of load development with this adapting device and was quite happy with the results. I was getting between .9-1.1 inch groups, with the vast majority being in-between those two figures. Well..... I put the suppressor on, and sighted the rifle in for 200 yards. Ended up with 3, five shot groups between 1.0-1.05 inches at 200. This tells me the device is detrimental to accuracy. I think this is the case with many muzzle devices. I chose this design because it is thought that the brake takes some of the initial punch off of your suppressor baffles. IDK? Either-way.... It shoots awesome suppressed, and pretty good w/o the suppressor.

Extremely well built
No question about it, this is extremely well built, but then it is a Surefire. I live in NJ so they don't like flash suppressors, but muzzle brakes are OK. Don't ask me about the logic why. In anticipation of the day the hearing protection folks push suppressor laws through, I'll have my AR 15 threaded and the brake mounted to accept the suppressor. Until then I'll just enjoy the benefits of the brake in lessening recoil.

Best compensator on the market
This the first Surefire brake that I have used and wow was I surprised. I've tried quite a few other brands and some were ok and some not so great. The Socom produced the least amount of muzzle rise and the fastest follow up shots of any brake that I have used. I use this on my competition AR that I have thousands of dollars invested in and wasn't going worry about paying a few dollars more for best. Surefire has alway made top of line gear and this is no exception. The Socom has several different adjustments that can be achieved from clocking the brake wherever you what by using the shims that are included and/or by drilling additional holes to direct the muzzle blast in the direction you want. A good instruction manual makes it easy for anyone to install. The only downside to the Socom is that it is noticeably louder than other compensators. All good comps will make your gun louder but I would recommend doubling up with earplugs and muffs for this one.

Muzzle brake for quick detach.
The product works as it should and is a fine quality. I feel that it is a bit on the expensive side.
