They should have been Blems
The A1 handguard I received is scratched up.
Looks good
It feels like really cheap plastic. It’s nice and looks nice but the feel is not great. I’m not trying to knock the product the fit is perfect. I’m just very surprised how cheap it feels
Only works with Gov't or Similar Barrels
I emailed Brownells before purchasing to see if these would fit a Heavy Barrel profile. I was assured it would fit. When it arrived the aluminum heat shield was too narrow to allow for proper fitment. I emailed Brownells about this and was told I had the wrong "Retainer" and needed a Triangular Retainer...I did have a Triangular Retainer. The only way these will fit an H-Bar is to remove the aluminum heat shield and use heat resistant tape inside the hand guards. Other than that, they look pretty slick and have that Flimsy Retro Feel to them. I would suggest Brownells widen the aluminum heat shield to allow for greater than One Inch in diameter Barrels. Hope this Helps
Ordered Green and Received Brown
These appear to be a well made handguard, but had the brown set inside of a box labeled green.
Disappointed
I so wanted to add A1 handguards to my AR but the orginal parts were old and in poor condition so I jumped at the opportunity to purchase a newly manufactured set from Brownells. They look great, they feel great, but the plastic is much thinner than I expected and I can't imagine that this handguard will hold up under adverse conditions. How much could it possibly cost to beef up the plastic, especially around the holes? Perhaps this item is only for collectors.
