AR-15 RETRO HANDGUARD SETS

Recreate an American Classic with the Brownells M16A1 Handguard Set, built to accurately replicate the original handguards issued to thousands of American servicemen & women. This Handguard Set is modeled directly off of original handguards, which are becoming increasingly difficult to find, or in decent condition. Left and Right Handguard halves include aluminum heatshields, protecting your hand and the handguards from barrel heat. Combine the Handguard Set with the matching Pistol Grip & Buttstock Assembly from Brownells, and you have a new condition furniture set for your AR-15, M16, M16A1 or other early model rifle. Handguards include instructions and heatshields. Available in several different colors including:

  • Black - Proper for Model 602, XM16E1, M16A1 & later generation rifles introduced after 1963
  • Green - Proper for early Model 601 rifles, the first AR-15 adopted by the US Air Force in 1959
  • Brown - Similar to the earliest AR-15 Prototype rifle furniture used in the late 1950s

Retro furniture from Brownells is not an exact copy of original components or their construction. Some areas have been changed due to manufacturing methods or to avoid counterfeit concerns.

Fits PSA Dissipator With Minimal Adjustment
I put this on a PSA Dissipator Upper that has a midlength gas block and a pinned front sight block. The triangle handguard cap is held into place with a screw that goes into the front sight block. In order for the handguards to fit, I had to remove said screw. Luckily, there is enough tension between the front sight block and the delta ring that handguards fit snuggly. I did NOT have to modify the heat shield at all to fit over the low profile gas block. It's a really cool look, especially since I changed the upper receiver to a M16a1 style carry handle upper. Kind of made by own Colt 605 replica.
