Zero Surprises
If you’re buying these magazines I hope it means you’re familiar with the many quirks of metal mags and are fully prepared to receive textbook examples of them. Yes, these mags will scratch your brass, don’t always like the full 30 rounds, nor are they guaranteed to give you bolt lock. However, these Brownells items are exactly on par with what every service branch uses and they come a fair amount cheaper than PMags. If you’re a realist, you’ll have zero complaints.

Reliable feeding, but will not always drop free
I ordered four of the gray 30-round Brownells AR-15/M-16 magazines and while they feed reliably - even when loaded to maximum capacity - one of the four would not drop free from my Aero Precision M4E1, hence the four-star rating. I ordered two additional magazines, one of which would also not drop-free. Brownells did replace the original one that would not drop-free. I didn’t bother getting the other one that would not drop-free replaced, so I have five of the gray 30-round Brownells AR-15/M-16 magazines, two of which are relegated for range-only use.

The quality is the same but the FDE color is different from the last batch I bought from Brownells. I didn't say Bad, just a little different.
