AR-15 LOWER RECEIVER BUFFER TUBE VISE FIXTURE

AR-15 LOWER RECEIVER BUFFER TUBE VISE FIXTURE Reviews & Ratings

AR-15 LOWER RECEIVER BUFFER TUBE VISE FIXTURE

Keep your buffer tube straight while tightening your castle nut.

Here at Brownells, we know how hard it is when tightening the lower receiver castle nut to keep the buffer tube from rotating during building or maintenance of an AR-15 platform. That is why we have developed the AR-15 Lower Receiver Extension Vise Fixture. Made from anodized aluminum, place the fixture in your favorite vice, like the Brownells Bench Vise, and tighten it down. Insert the lower onto the fixture with the buffer tube through the sliding tube support. Move the sliding tube support toward the receiver leaving enough room for an armorer’s wrench. Adjust the support for mil-spec and commercial tubes simply by using an adjustment screw on top of the sliding tube support. Once adjusted and tightened, ensure your buffer is aligned and set your castle nut with confidence to the proper torque specifications.

Specifications
  • Holds Mil-Spec and Commercial AR-15/M4 Buffer Tubes
  • Hard coated anodized aluminum

Really awesome kit
This is a must for my bench and it isn't completely unfairly priced. Fixed an older AR and built a new one with this. Both are perfectly straight. Too ez.

Low cost and works
Not the best jig out there. With that being said, $50 and some changes is better than spending over $200 for a professional jig while perfect alignment has no added benefits. The 2-part design could cause the buffer tube to go out of alignment by an unnoticeable amount when you tighten the castle nut, but it is definitely better than 2-3 degrees when aligning by feel. One thing you gotta be careful when using this jig: Don't over tighten the set screw for the piece that goes to the buffer tube, it will crush the tube. If the buffer tube is out of shape, the adjustable stock will not slide smoothly anymore.

Great Fixture!
This Fixture, although a little pricey, it is worth the money if you plan to build several AR's. It makes a good holding device as well as indexing the buffer tube assembly. Couple this fixture with the Brownell's upper receiver vice device and a reaction vice mount and it makes the Unicorns and Butterflies come flying around.
