Brownells and Colt have teamed up to offer the LE6960-CCU Upper Receiver which is the same as found on the Colt LE6960-CCU, or Colt Combat Unit Carbine AR-15. Designed with direct input from veteran trainers Mike Pannone, Daryl Holland, and Ken Hackathorn, the LE6960-CCU Upper Receiver is a modern design featuring a 13” Centurion Arms slim profile, M-LOK, free float handguard, around a 16.1” lightweight profile, mid-length gas system barrel. This barrel has chrome lined bore with a 1-7 twist rate, and a manganese phosphate finish.

Outstanding modern Colt upper

This upper was exactly what i was looking for. Colt is finally releasing more modern products and doing so with good features and quality parts. The lightweight barrel and midlength gas are a match made in heaven. Soft shooting and easy to point. Glad to see Colt making more barrel profiles than just the pointless govt standard. The Centurion arms handguard is a great choice, with better finish and slightly more features than an MCMR, it inspires confidence. For around $600 this upper is a no-brainer.

6960 is the cat!

initial check looks promising. smooth and slick receiver, forge code, dry teflon coating inside and that centurion handguard is nice. solid pinned gas block. and the lightweight barrel allows this thing to swing/track with ease. this CCU is a winner.

LE6960-CCU - Excellent Upper Receiver

I have been skeptical of Colt products after viewing some of their complete rifles a few years back. Light roll marks, scuffs in finish and poor fitting of after market rail systems (Colt Trooper Model in particular). But in todays market I needed an upper to go on an LMT lower so I took a chance when Brownell's showed this one in stock. It arrived in a factory Colt box, finish was even and perfect, cage code and forge marking are on upper, barrel is colt marked with cage code and inspection marks, and it even had the grey dry-lube finish applied to the inside of the receiver. Centurion rail was perfectly aligned and it fit on the lower with little play. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Light and fast

Received in a nice box with nice plastic thick wrap and went ahead and zeroed it with a Trijicon MRO on top, Further added a Colt BCG I had laying around, added a Geissele charging handle and Magpul MBUS pro sights to this upper. Positives: ultra slim rail (Centurion) that feels great w the qd attachments and mlok slots. It is noticeably thinner than the Troy vtac rail I have on another ar-15 I own. Light weight. Long rail that allows the user to drive the support hand further out (Costa grip). Top notch quality LE/MIL build quality like pinned gas block, chrome lined barrel etc. Lastly it looks cool. Negatives are non-existent, maybe if it came with a complete Colt bcg that would be nice.

Outstanding Upper!

Nice fit and finish, but the balance impresses me the most about this rifle. I am mounting it to a BCM lower in what will make an outstanding lightweight and well balanced rifle. It is tough to beat colt!

I originally bought this to share it with a Colt 6920 rifle I already had. I loved it so much I bought a separate Colt 6920 lower from Brownells. Now I have two complete Colt rifles. This upper paired so well with the lower I bought, the shade of black is perfect. The upper to lower fit is so good there's no play whatsoever. My original 6920, which I bought as a complete rifle had some wiggle. I'm a happy Brownells & Colt customer.
