Best choice
I have used these for years and now use them exclusively, having tried others with big brand names that didn’t work well. I use many forged Aero without forward assist upper receivers that ban have some figment issues, but with carful sanding and wearing-in, they eventually work fine. These won’t ding the lower like the metal mil-spec cpvers do, seal the ejection port from dust and mud much better, look great installed, are lighter, and take me less than 10 seconds to remove and only few more to install, all without any tools whatsoever! The adjustment feature is helpful and easy to do, but does require a very small jewelers screwdriver. Despite years of use now for nearly two decades, none of mine have failed in any way. I think it was the Aero receiver small pin holes’ roughness that made it sticky, not this door, as I tried a few of various vintages; a little sanding of the holes and the polymer fixed pin on door fixed it adequately. The ease of installation and removing is easy and very fast. I have had no problems whatsoever with my several examples, but have tried others, even from Strike that were disappointing.
Dust cover
These desk covers are great super easy to install and operate, smoother, and look better. You can’t go wrong ,if for some reason you need to replace your door, this is the one.
Standard desk covers are kind of a pain. These are super easy to install.
Easy to use and install
I have a Colt M4 and this fit without any problem at all. It was incredibly easy to install and take off. I didn't have to use any tools to install it and all I had to use to take it off and replace it was a pen. It is pretty strong and looks good.
Perfect Match!
This cover matches my Stag Arms left side eject FDE upper exactly. This cover is the easiest to install of any cover I have used. I was disappointed at first as the cover would not latch. I read everything on the box and there was no mention of the latch being adjustable. I was going to send them (I got two) back and in the process I saw in the description that there is an adjustment screw built into the latch. A quick turn of a small thin flat blade screwdriver corrected the issue. It now Looks and Works Great.
Better Dust Cover
This is what the dust cover should have been in the first place. It looks much better and doesn't bend. If for whatever reason you would like to replace it, the installation is smart and easy. You don't have to take off the barrel nut for upper receivers where this is mandatory.
Great
Great little part, I've installed it on many uppers. It's light, as simple as a dust cover should be, and is almost always a painless install, but I have some tips I'd like to share: 1) Adjustments to the locking tension can be made with a small jewelers flathead screwdriver, though a split head would be ideal to clear the little ball detent. It's recommended you apply a small bit of non-permanent threadlock once you have a positive "click". I've found this is usually necessary on Ruger ARs, as the detent barely engages into these uppers out of the box. 2) This is a polymer dust cover, so be careful when installing other accessories that require the use of direct heat/thermal fitting, ex. a barrel, forend, or any parts very close to the dust cover area. If high heat resistance is important to you, you may be interested in the aluminum version. 3) As another review mentions, if it doesn't open freely, don't be afraid to trim the two ends with a bit with a sharp blade or fine sandpaper. Hope this helps.
GTG on Aero M4E1!
Fit without modification on my Aero M4E1 upper. Seems to seal a bit better than OEM and a skosh lighter without marring your upper too! I would buy more if Brownell's had them in stock as they had the best price.
Won't use any other dust cover again
So easy to install it is ridiculous and great quality like all Strike products. Ended up replacing the dust covers on all my AR's.
Great Alternative
I've got these on several guns now and they will definitely go on future builds. They are high quality and easy to install. If you've finished your build and look back at your upper and think to yourself, "Oh dang I forgot the dust cover!" With the UDC you won't need to remove the barrel nut to install one.
Less parts is More
Installed on a new 5.56 build. Great not having to keep track of several parts or assemble them. Pops right into place BUT you do have to think a second about the spring orientation as you place into position. There are no included instructions, but 10 seconds of thinking and it becomes obvious. Works flawlessly. No maintenance needed. Does seal a bit better than a standard.
