AR-15 CARBINE FLAT WIRE SPRING

AR-15 CARBINE FLAT WIRE SPRING Reviews & Ratings

The SI Carbine Flatwire Spring is an economical, easy upgrade to any AR system with a carbine buffer system. The flatwire spring increases service life of the platform, smooths out the shooting cycle, and greatly outlasts the stock spring. Increased bolt load, in addition to decreased compression force increases reliability in cycling. Additionally, all SI Flatwire springs are cryogenically stress relieved to provide greater consistency, longer spring life, and greater resilience to high cyclic rates. At a cost not much greater than stock carbine springs, the SI Flatwire is an easy option for those either looking to replace worn buffer springs or begin new builds. Package include:

  • 1x Carbine Length Flatwire Spring

Features

  • Cryo-cycled 17-7 ph steel for strength, reliability and longevity
  • Decreased harmonics lessens system vibration for faster follow up shots.
  • Increased bolt load for more positive feeding
  • Reduces distracting AR "twang"

AR 25 Flat Wire buffer spring
All good comments. Great functionality and appears to be quieter. May have to buy more for my other rifles.

Makes sense
This spring was used for an 10.5 BBL AR pistol which is over-gassed. The tension of the spring felt noticeably stronger than the stock springs. When fired it eliminated the twang in the buffer tube. Coupled with a heavier buffer this aided in adjusting ejection pattern to a 4 oclock position.

Great value!
I have these on all my AR's because it was cheap enough of an upgrade. Paired them all with PWS H2 buffers and it gives the gun a great feel.

Great Spring
Wasn't sure about getting a flat wire spring but it works and had no issues what so ever. Installed this flat wire spring and H2 buffer and the combination works like a clock. Reduces not eliminates the felt recoil and less twang. I can't say that it helped accuracy but when you need to get back on target fast it worked for me.

Worked on my AR15 and AR47 piston
Converted 2 rifles to short stroke gas piston. AR15 5.56/223 and AR47 7.62x39. Designed for the AR15 but I was surprised that it worked with my short stroke gas piston AR47. I dumped a 200 rounds of Wolf SP and RAS FMJ. All steel cased and no failure.

Flat Spring
As an engineer with Aerospace background, I can say that a flat spring design for reciprocating mass and balanced harmonics in a system like the AR15 has multiple advantages over round wire. I think with proper tuning of the complete gas system, it ought to work quite well. A good start...but have to put it thru the paces.

Has my Grendel running Great
AR-15 Carbine Flat Wire Spring was installed on a 18' 6.5 Grendel JP Enterprise (JPE) Barrel. The accuracy was amazing, but was suffering from failure to lock the bolt back on the last round fired. Magazines are ASC 15rd (these work incredibly well with no mods to them). The Buffer was a JPE silent capture spring with (standard spring installed). Bolt, again a JPE matched bolt and FMOS bolt carrier. To fix I tried replacing the spring with one with just a slightly less spring rate. Which gave me a different set of malfunctions. Then I used a Geiselle Super 42, this was too powerful. Finally the combo that worked was the SI Flat Wire Spring and a Standard Carbine Buffer. It runs incredibly quiet and smooth, cycle all ammo that I have shot through it. It has function 100% will all magazines since the installation. The only reason why I don't give it five stars is, it was a pain to fully seat the the spring all the way on the shoulder of my particular Buffer, although you may not have the same issue. Great product, I will definitely use again.
