Guaranteed Flawless Performance
Well designed and manufactured. This piston system works reliably.
Works good. Must plan for good result
The Superlative Arms piston kit is a great way to produce a reliable, accurate, and clean rifle. I built my latest AR1 5 around the piston kit, which is to say, I read the specifications on the gas block and bought a handguard that fit, a Samson Manufacturing Evolution Series, Every else was a standard build.
I did have a problem with gun cycling at first. The problem was poorly made buffer tube. I replace the tube and it cycles like a charm.
My only complaint is the piston spring. It disintegrated after a few hundred rounds. I called tech support and learned that the spring is optional. I eliminated the spring and the gun runs reliably. I shot a deer with it. The deer collapsed after being hit with Federal Modern Sporting Rifle(MSR) 62 grain bullet at 120 yards. I shoot the rifle in competitions. I shot 100 rounds with a clock time under 180 seconds. It is reliable.
I recommend the kit to you for a reliable, accurate, and clean firearm.
Nice build quality, but..
Nice slick looking product, price is decent for what you get! But if you plan on putting a free float forend on it be sure it will fit properly.. I bought this to use with a FF forend from Hogue but it is too large even though I have seen this exact kit marketed as "low profile". I am sure it's a great kit but I will have to return it.
Good suppressor set up
The system is smooth it does work but unless you're running suppressed all the time it won't cycle all ammunition it won't cycle tula it won't cycle any of your imported steel case stuff reliably. Slap a can on it and yeah it'll run flawlessly. But it's now been relegated to a back corner of the gun safe because I like something that will shoot everything.if you're looking for a piston system that really works and works with everything PWS all the way.
Disappointed
This system is capable of functioning well for roughly 500 rounds. It isn't a self cleaning system and once it gets clogged with carbon disassembly for cleaning is virtually impossible. The 9/64 allen wrench needed for field stripping is not suited for the task. An external T-50 torx feature should work much better. A self cleaning system would be the best design.
Buy Adams Arms or Black Rifle Arms!!!!
This was purchased for a custom build in a ks47 upper. The design seems good, except the function is not there. The buffer keeps binding up in the buffer tube and others have said the same thing. Brownells was more helpful than the manufacturer, however, my problem still exists. Works well as a paperweight! I would not trust my life with this kit until I do some major improvements to the bolt carrier itself. I would recommend going with an Adams Arms or Black Rifle Arms piston kit instead. Customer service is much better and the product quality is much better.
