Must have for accuracy.
When installed properly, just forward of the ocular lens bell housing, but behind the rear ring, this device will increase accuracy. Yes you must be 10% smarter than the equipment you are trying to operate. But if you are, then you can use the non dominant eye to glance up at the level while in shooting position. And then break the shot. I have one of these on every rifle I own. Even my long range rifle which I've taken deer or elk with out to 800yds. It works, when properly installed in the proper place. The directions are your friend. Only downside is the screw heads are on the bottom. It does take some thinking, and technique to install while turning both screw simultaneously for it to tighten down while level. If you shoot a bow, you know what "cant" does to accuracy. Firing a rifle is no different. All my rifles I shoot beyond 200yds with have one of these.
Useful Accessory
Have not fired the rifle with it installed. However, after dry firing off a bipod and shooting sticks, I think it will be useful and practicable even though it is a little hard to see with the non shooting eye. I don't want a level that protrudes from the scope. Two criticisms - The screws are installed from the bottom (why?) which makes it harder to install the level than it would be otherwise. I would like to see the sharp corners rounded. Noting the aforementioned criticisms, I would recommend it to friends and associates.
Never miss a shot again
Once I put one of these on my scope I was very suprised to find how much I really was canting. Especially at long range. Using this device halved my group size. I am so impressed that I bought another 10, some in 1 inch, some in 30 mm. Every rifle with a scope in my safe has one on. My mates even use them and I now sell them to clients. Attatchment screws could be a little longer though. I supply longer screws when I put them on.
Well made but a little hard to see
This is a beautifully made part that actually has better fit and finish than most scope mounting rings. It has a high quality finish and the fasteners are excellent. However, it is somewhat hard to see with the non-scope eye because it must be positioned on TOP of the scope. One of the other brands that Brownells offers mounts on the side of the scope, but requires a dedicated mounting base. The MWG unit easily mounts to the scope tube and gives you the chance to get the rifle straight (less cant) before firing. I don't think it would be useful in off-hand shooting, but for bench rest and testing, it is wonderful and durable. I ordered three more after trying the first one. This one is high quality metal, not plastic, and will last forever.
Product failed to work.
One of the screw holes was stripped. It is too small to fit a 1 inch scope.
can't see it, so can't use it.
Although it seams to be good quality, I find it hard to determine how you could actually use it. When mounted to my Leupold VX-3 when you are looking through the scope, you just can't see it with either eye.
uhm - yea right?
you get what you pay for = not much! mounting is a pain, screw heads are under rings not easily seen when sighting your shot would not recommend this product spend the extra cash for a proper level
