AK-47 RECOIL BUFFER

AK-47 RECOIL BUFFER Reviews & Ratings

Polymer buffer fits on the bolt spring to reduce bolt slap, felt recoil, and overall wear and tear. Provides a cushion that prevents the bolt from making contact with the receiver to reduce wear on both components. Installs easily over rear of spring assembly; no permanent modifications to rifle required. Good for at least 5,000 firing cycles.

SPECS: Polymer, black. (1.3cm) long, 15/16" (2.4cm) wide, 1" (3. 2cm) high. Fits all models of AK-47, Mak-90, Galil, and Valmet.

Smooths it out
I read the other comments. My experience has been different though. I did the install/upgrade in minutes. It smooths it out for sure. I did this back in 2014. It is 2019. No problems. I shoot this rifle too.

fits my Maadi
The bolt carrier tailpiece was peening from repeated contact with the rifle and mushrooming. It has just over 3,000 rounds and I guess the heat treatment was not done properly. By comparison, my MAK90 has about the same round count and the tailpiece looks fine. Anyway, I decided to try Brownells recoil buffer and it works great. After a 30 round mag dump I noticed the sharp edges on the tailpiece were grabbing the buffer and pulling it out of place so I stoned the mushroomed material away and everything is fine. Another four magazines to check function and all is well. There were no instructions included with the buffer so make sure you place the buffer with the little rectangular cutout facing the front of the rifle. The tip of the tailpiece goes into that cutout and allows the rear of the bolt carrier to squarely hit the buffer. One more thing....don't just put this thing into your rifle and not do a live fire test. If it's your home defense gun, you don't want any surprises.

Recoil Buffer
This buffer reduced the hammer of metal to metal when the bolt its the bolt stop on AK47s. It greatly reduced the noise and smoothed out the bolt recoil. My guess is it will extend the life of the bolt/bolt stop while making it nicer to shoot. Takes a bit of effort to install but it's worth it.

BUFFER MOD
Works great but remember. If you have a safety with the bolt lock back notch it won't work anymore because the bolt doesn't travel back as far. But, you can shave off a bit (1/8 to 1/4") off the area where the bolt contacts the buffer & then your safety bolt notch will work. Shave then test;shave then test.Don't take off more than you need to. Utility knife or other razor knife.

Worked as advertised.
Easy to instal, works as advertised. Stopped all trigger slap which was why I bought it. CON- After installation the bolt will not lock back as it adds a 1/4 inch.

Questionable
Got this product for a Romanian parts kit AKM. The bolt carrier was jumping up from receiver rails and binding at rearmost travel in the receiver. Receiver possibly out of spec. Never had to use a buffer before, decided to give it a try. Technically, it solved the problem. Stops the bolt from coming all the way back. Fit on the rear of recoil spring and rear trunnion area is just "so-so". Supposed to last 5k rounds...no way! After 120 rounds buffer was splitting and crumbling in spots, looked beat to "heck". Won't make it 500 rounds. Last ditch solution, only if you don't plan on shooting much. Ended up sending AKM to gunsmith.

Poor Quality Polymer
I used this buffer to Russian Saiga MK / AKM series 103. Is easy to install. Fits, but !!! Warranty is: "Good for at least 5,000 firing cycles". He deteriorated very rapidly. He does not resisted less than 300 cycles. The buffer has low quality. I bought another from another company. It's all OK.
