What is the POWER CUSTOM - AK-47 Recoil Buffer?

Polymer buffer fits on the bolt spring to reduce bolt slap, felt recoil, and overall wear and tear. Provides a cushion that prevents the bolt from making contact with the receiver to reduce wear on both components. Installs easily over rear of spring assembly; no permanent modifications to rifle required. Good for at least 5,000 firing cycles.

SPECS: Polymer, black. (1.3cm) long, 15/16" (2.4cm) wide, 1" (3. 2cm) high. Fits all models of AK-47, Mak-90, Galil, and Valmet.

What Reviewers Are Saying
Product Quality

A significant portion of reviewers express concerns regarding the quality and durability of the recoil buffer, stating that it deteriorates quickly and may not withstand the expected firing cycles. Some users experienced it splitting or crumbling after a few hundred rounds, indicating potential issues with material strength.

Many customers highlight the ease of installation as a key advantage of the product. Users mention that it can be set up in minutes, allowing for a user-friendly experience. However, there are some warnings about the need for careful adjustments and testing to ensure proper functionality.
Performance Improvement

Several reviews indicate that the recoil buffer effectively reduces felt recoil and noise during shooting, leading to a smoother experience. This has been particularly noted by those who experience trigger slap and wish to enhance comfort while shooting.
Compatibility Issues
30%
Users have reported compatibility issues, particularly with certain build specifications of AK-47 rifles. Some found that the buffer affected the bolt lock-back functionality or caused short-stroking, suggesting that it may not be universally compatible with all AK builds.
Value for Money

Smooths it out
I read the other comments. My experience has been different though. I did the install/upgrade in minutes. It smooths it out for sure. I did this back in 2014. It is 2019. No problems. I shoot this rifle too.

fits my Maadi
The bolt carrier tailpiece was peening from repeated contact with the rifle and mushrooming. It has just over 3,000 rounds and I guess the heat treatment was not done properly. By comparison, my MAK90 has about the same round count and the tailpiece looks fine. Anyway, I decided to try Brownells recoil buffer and it works great. After a 30 round mag dump I noticed the sharp edges on the tailpiece were grabbing the buffer and pulling it out of place so I stoned the mushroomed material away and everything is fine. Another four magazines to check function and all is well. There were no instructions included with the buffer so make sure you place the buffer with the little rectangular cutout facing the front of the rifle. The tip of the tailpiece goes into that cutout and allows the rear of the bolt carrier to squarely hit the buffer. One more thing....don't just put this thing into your rifle and not do a live fire test. If it's your home defense gun, you don't want any surprises.
