These are pretty important for precision shooting in bolt gun rifles. They keep solvent and yuck out of the action and away from the rifle bedding. Hoppes can melt the bedding compound on the stock causing the action and barrel to move when fired. Also Dewey is a great company and make the best cleaning rods in the world.

Good Tool
Fits snug enough to keep solvent out of the action. Comes with extra O rings if one wears out or breaks. I also use it for inserting bullets when measuring CBTOs.
Works Great
Fits and works great. I use it with a Dewey Brass Rod and jags. Keeps the gunk out of the action while cleaning the bore.
Perfect for Rem700 SPS Tact
Fits and works flawlessly in a Remington short action in 308win. Used with a Dewey rod and brushes/jags. I used this combo over and over for cleaning a rifle during it's long break in. Very fast/easy install, aids bore cleaning greatly. It keeps everything else clean while you soak and scrub the bore with solvents/oils.
DOESN'T FIT SAVAGE MOD. 25 IN .17 HORNET
I was told by Brownells Rep. this would fit the Savage Mod. 25 in .17 Hornet. It does not. The 10" bore guide is to short and the tip is larger than the chamber. I will keep it though, since it works great in several other rifles. It is well made as is everything made by Dewey.
Fair value
Works fairly well, keeps Dewey and Bore-Tech cleaning rods co-axially aligned with the bore. Fits and adjusts well. Helps keep chemicals off painted stocks. Bore cleaning chemicals eat up the O-rings fairly often. I used mine for twenty years and eventually the brass thumb "Handle" that helps keep the rear bushing in the rear of the receiver from slipping eventually stripped its threaded hole. You can get a lot of service life out of this -- it was worth a dollar a year!
use with caution
I have two of these guides, and they work in a variety of rifles and seal the chambers well. They do not necessarily keep the rod off the rifling if the rod bows, but a muzzle-style guide at the rear of the bore guide helps with that, similar to a Lucas. The main problem I have had is having an O-ring come off the guide in the chamber. I'm still trying to figure out how to fish that out, and am hoping the 45-caliber bore brush I plan to buy today will do the trick. Maybe lubing the o-rings prior to use would help.

Terrible design. Did not fit or work with any of my rifles. I returned it and got charged for shipping it back.
