Excellent replacement
This is an excellent replacement part for the plastic magazine release. I installed this on a M9A1 pistol with Beretta factory plastic grips. One reviewer said it did not work for him. Mine had plenty of clearance and worked GREAT. Not sure what his issue could have been. I have installed 3 of these, one on this pistol, one on a 92A1, and one on a M9. No issues at all with grips. When installing make sure to note the direction the plunger legs go into the recesses. If installing for right hand operation, place the release into the slot and insert the left side into the hole in the frame. Then push in on the right side. It should pop into place.
OS Mag Release
I just installed this into my Beretta 96FS recently and I love it! Makes mag changes easier and smoother without having to adjust my grip on the gun. I watched a couple of videos on how to install it into the grip. It was a little bit of a pain to install but once I got it in there, it was flawless!
Huge improvement over OEM release.
Took watching a few different videos to understand how to properly fit the part, but that's a knock on my amateur gunsmithing abilities not the part. Fits great and works great. I can activate the release with my middle finger on my shooting hand, and I have small hands. Solid metal construction, good fit, and good function. Highly recommend.
Great for shooters with smaller hands!
Great quality product like almost all Wilson parts. Made of durable metal and not the flimsy plastic factory release. Easy enough to install and fit great. Hardest part of the installation is getting the bushing and springs seated so pay attention to that part of the video. For the price and functionality it cannot be beat. Fit my 92A1 with Alumagrips great. No fitting or modification required. Great feel on the fingers and big enough I can use my shooting hand middle finger to drop the mag. No second hand required! Highly recommended!
Mostly good
I recently purchased a M92A1. I decided to trick it out with practical mods. This mag catch works fantastic, but does NOT work with factory hard plastic grips! I have it set up for right-handed shooter and the mag catch will not depress fully, thus magazines would not drop free. Another minor tweak is that when inserting a magazine, sometimes the right top-front edge of the magazine tube would catch on the magazine catch ledge(the one that retains the magazine itself.) So I have to at times forcefully insert and seat a magazine. It may sound like I'm griping, but I'm not. Just PLEEEEEASE, for the sake of safety/function of your firearm, install, check, test, verify before you carry a pistol into a situation where you'll need. it.
Checkered Wilson Ovsz Mag Release
This looks great, however it took me 6 hours of filing and stoning the part to get it to even slide into the frame. After all of the hand work, I had to cold blue the part. It was a lot of work. I would not buy it again.
fitting required on older model
The extended release and larger pad are excellent, but my late 80s / early 90s 92 required significant fitting to get it installed. As it was, it only seated all the way after a light tap with a mallet. After smoothing the rounded side with a 2000-grit wet sand & light stoning the ledges on the other side I was able to get it to move freely enough that the springs would return it to the correct position. It wasnt super smooth, but that could've been that I didn't do a great job fitting it. It may fit newer models better
Don’t waste your money
Didn’t figure at all cost me $9.99 will take ordered the factory size Beretta part was installed and working fine in less than a minute.
DIES NOT FIT
Save your hard earned money!! This does not fit the Beretta 92FS Frame. I wanted a metal magazine release toreolace the plastic one that came with the pistol. This did not fit and scratched the finish off the frame. The gun is a tool so I'm not too concerned with that, but am disappointed that I spent $41 on something that cannot be out in my gun without tooling it. Especially when it's supposed to be a drop in part. I have used Wilson Combat pats in my 1911s and never had an issue. I put Wilson Combat's short reach trigger in my 92FS without an issue. If you want a metal magazine release, get it from Beretta. I am not happy with this product and I will not recommend this to anyone.
