It's steel, it's 1/16 in dia. and when I hit it with a hammer it drives out tiny pins. It does what it was designed to do, it ain't rocket science.

Great punches

These are very nice punches, and I have only needed to use one of the larger ones so far. It held up in removing a large and tight roll pin from a Beretta PMX. No signs of and deformation when done. All punches are consumable and will only last for so long. Without abuse i see these lasting a long time.

Starrett 1/16 Pin Punch

I don't use this size pin punch very often. I brought this one as a replacement for the imported one that I had, which bent with the first tap. A quality tool might cost a dollar or two more but at least you use more than once.

Starrett Is The Best Quality and Value

I have used the same set of Starrett punches for over 25 years. Broke the 1/16 once and made a starter punch from it. No other punches compare to Starrett quality and value. It is true, you get what you pay for. All my measuring instruments are Starrett as well. Buy once, take care of it, and pass along to your next generation.

I should have purchased this set a long time ago. These punches are well made and punches that will last and designed for the constant user. I go through a lot of pin punches and these punches look as though they are well constructed and designed for the gunsmith in mind. I would recommend them to any one that is serious on quality punches. Nick

Used a 1/16 punch from a cheap set to drive out a roll pin, and broke the punch in the hole! Ordered a quality set and drove out the broken punch and the roll pin.

have to realize some pins will cause this to bend, after so many bends it will break, then grind down to a custom punch. I say 5 stars but they tend to break easy. which is understandable for this size.
