Great Deer sight
I have owned one of these sights for 12 years or more. I have it mounted on my Remington 1100 shotgun and use for Deer season. I put batteries in it in November and take them out in late December. I have shot numerous deer using this sight. If you take care of the sight it will take care of you. I may buy another one real soon to put on another shotgun!
Would you recommend this? Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Just buy it. You will never regret it.
After seeing a coworker using this optic. Decided to give it a try. Well it was love at first squeeze. Lol. I've own acog, an old used aimpoint m4. And even a m143. After time most came and went. This optic is sill on my "goto" rifle. It's perfect for home defense. Being true 1x it's easy to use. Can be co-witnessed, removed without losing zero, do not need solid cheek weld to aim if caught in bad position and had to shoot. The Holo sight will stay true if optic is obscured on other side with mud or dirt. At 100m off the rest I was hitting paper in tight 1 to 3 inch groups with ease. Never thought that after removing the optic over and over that it would hold zero like that. Only gripe I have is my older version had a knob to tighten onto the rail. With prolong use it wore out the area. QD release from the start would have been a better choice L3. I paid 1200 for my trijicon 300 for the aimpoint used its almost 900 new. This is a no Brainer. Dollar for dollar round for round. The eotech 512 is the best deal with brownells customer service it's all covered.l

Excellent sight for Ruger Gunsite Scout
Using this for deer hunting. Sighted in for 100 yards in a matter of minutes. Very easy to use and see in different light conditions. Accurate and simple.

great optic
i own two different aimpoints and trijicon products, but for some reason i will always love the eotech. its so easy to use, its durable, and its excellent at quick target acquisition. battery life is mediocre, but you can easily throw in a new set of AA's every few months for cheap.

An Excellent Sight!
Although I haven't had an Aimpoint mounted up yet, I have two EOTechs - the 552 and the 512. They are virtually identical however the 512 does not have NV capability. The fact that you can use rechargable AA batteries are a bonus as I can carry two in my MIAD and replace as necessary. I know many people knock the battery life, but I don't recall having used my rifle for 600 - 800 hours without being able to replace my rechargeable batteries at some point. I also would point out how easy it is to replace them too. Try that on an Aimpoint! One last comment would be to point out that there are a few reviewers here that have written under the heading "Best Uses" that night vision is great. Not with this sight I'm afraid - that's the 552!

512 EOTECH
As a Law Enforcement professional, I've used the 512 EOTECH for over 4 years. Batteries are changed annually, regardless of amount of hours used as a matter of practice. Choice of the 512 was mainly due to product reputation and availability of batteries. I have not had a moment's trouble from this sight. Reliable, accurate and rock steady. Once sighted in, if you can see the target, you can hit it. It 's been used in a variety of tactical situations during the 4 year service life with no failures. I've used the sight in the rain, cold and hot, humid weather without fail. This is a very good sight for the money.

Set Your Sights on This!
This magnificent sight is perfect for a number of applications, including tactical use, personal defense, hunting, target shooting and general plinking. I have this model atop a Rock River Tactical Entry M4 style carbine, and it is absolutely outstanding. Looking through the 512, one will see a holographic red circle and small dot in the middle. One simply places the dot on the target and you are ready. This is not a typical red dot sight, nor does it offer any magnification, you don't need it. The sight comes up on target with lightning speed and you can use it equally well with one or both eyes open. The 512 operates with two AA batteries available anywhere. They are long lasting and simple to replace. The intensity of the circle and dot is adjustable so that it can be used effectively even on bright, sunny days. The on/off buttons are centrally located and easy and fast to use. The 512 is extremely well made and durable, and it installs easily onto a Weaver or picatinny rail without tools in only seconds. Sighting-in is a breeze as well. The windage and elevation dials are well marked, have pleanty of room for adjustments and can be easily adjusted with a coin. Everything about this sight is designed for true user-friendly operation. I use my 512 out to 150 yards and the results are superb. I know people who use them effectively at even longer ranges. This is also an outstnding close-quarters tool, which is why the 512 is used by both the US military and civilian police agencies. The 512 comes with a 2 year warranty, which is decent, and can be used on any rifle or shotgun that you can mount it to. Again, don't confuse this with the countless number of 'red dot' scopes out there. This is a totally different creature, and one that does exactly what it says it will do, is user friendly beyond belief, [*]. It recommend it highly!

Not bad for the money
Easy to affix and zero, sturdy protective housing, quick sight presentation. On the other hand, the battery life isn't quite as good as other red dots and the ring and dot appear a bit grainy for my liking. For intermediate range shooting I would prefer a dot which appeared a bit more crisp. Though for its intended/designed purpose, I feel this unit is very well suited.

A great value for the price
Works very well, extremely accurate, and rugged! Now prefer the Aimpoint sight over this because of more defined center sight dot, and better battery efficiency. Otherwise no complaints.

EOTech 512 Holographic Sight Review
As far as the EOTech Holographic sight goes, the 512 is A-OK. It is just as reliable as EoTech's higher end models and matches up evenly as well. It is perfect for close-q work and even works well at longer distances. Long distance shots are easy with the 512 (or any EOTech sight) but with an added magnifier, this sight will quickly become your favorite by far. The one feature that made me fall in love with EOTech's sights is the fact that as long as the window is visable and the recticle can be seen, the shot will be made. Makes hard shots easier, not easy. Clear picture window, NVC, adjustable brightness, ease of operation and overall quality performance. The two things I don't like as much is the changing of the batteries and overall unit length. I have since switched to longer-life batteries and have somewhat rectified the problem. I personally don't have a problem with the length of the unit, but on some weapons the unit may be as long as the provided rail which can make adding a Magnifier a difficult fit. If this is a problem for you... EOTech makes a number of shorter units. Overall: Great Sight!!!
