45 DEGREE CHAMFER CUTTERS

45 DEGREE CHAMFER CUTTERS Reviews & Ratings

45 DEGREE CHAMFER CUTTERS

A damaged or poorly-cut muzzle can really hurt accuracy; sharp edges on revolver cylinder chamber mouths can cause rounds to hang up going into the cylinder - a real problem when using speedloaders. Cure both problems with this cutter.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Incompatibility Issues

45 muzzle crowning tool
Cut crown like a knife through hot butter. No chatter marks to buff out!

45 degree crown cutter
Cuts great , bull barrels w 2 reverse plugs matched , and a bushing barrel which looks gorgeous . Idk what other are talking about , mine cuts beautiful and it’s still sharp , but I use cutting oil, maybe that’s their problem who knows . But I do have one gripe , it’s not big enough to cut the entire bull barrel face. They really need to offer 3/4” . I got the widest cutter and I’m looking for a different one to finish my custom bull cut, kinda finding out the hard way here. Regardless, great cutter, im so glad brownells offers this product for us , it’s putting my builds over the top. Brownells is mandatory if you like to tinker and build beautiful 19/2011’s . Don’t listen to the negative reviews , this thing cuts perfectly , just use oil like your supposed to.

45, 5/8" Chamfering Cutter
Used this with Brownells .45 BBL. Revolver Muzzle Brass Pilot (#080-944-450) to re-crown my S&W 625PC. The brass pilot measured .4405" diameter which was a good fit for my bore (.443") diameter. The Cutter's diameter (5/8") was a good match on the guns I used it on (S&W 625, 627, & 686). The last one I used it on left chatter marks/ripples. Not sure why as it cut the others smoothly. (Hope it's not getting dull already?) Purchase Brownells Facing & Chamfering Cutter Handle (#080-589-000) to use these together.

Handles STILL out of stock
The workmanship is nice. I don't have the same problem as the other reviewer with the pilot hole being too big. The only problem I have is having to make my own handle for the chamfer tool. Doesn't make sense they would stock the chamfer cutters but not the handles. Come on Brownell. Also, they don't stock the muzzle crown chamfer cutters that come with the pilot and handle. I purchased this to fix a Marlin factory muzzle crown fiasco in a 917v. The crown was cut at a 45 deg angle to the bore. WTH were they thinking?

It sucks!!!
I purchased the brownells t-handle, pilot and 45cutter and will have to say I am very disappointed in the results from using them. Paid over a hundred dollars just to barely cut the crown. Worked great at first but quickly goes dull and is completely useless after that. For some reason it wouldn't let me give 1 star review.

Good tool, doesn't seem to last
Makes great cuts in a cylinder for much faster reloads. Used it on 4 cylinders, but by cylinder 3 it was starting to chatter and the 4th was notched and terrible. Works great, but seems to be only good for a couple uses.

Very angry
I bought this with a 90 degree facing cutter, handle and pilot. The facing cutter worked fine until the third muzzle crown I did and it got dull. The 45 degree chamfer chattered on the first muzzle crown I did and got worse every time I tried to use it. A complete waste of time and money. I took off as little metal on each stroke as possible and used plenty of cutting fluid. I should have just sent it to a gunsmith.

pilot hole too large
The pilot hole is too large for the .17 cal pilots. The pilot must be shimmed with wraps of .001" stock until proper fit is attained. Only then can a nice cut be made. There is apparently a miscommunication between the pilot and cutter maker. My cutters and pilots for calibers 22 and up all fit together tightly.
