308 AR LOWER RECEIVER VISE BLOCK

308 AR LOWER RECEIVER VISE BLOCK Reviews & Ratings

308 AR LOWER RECEIVER VISE BLOCK

Heavy-duty vise block takes all the clamping force, so your expensive lower receiver won’t get scratched, distorted, or otherwise damaged. Insert block into the mag well, just like an ordinary magazine, then clamp the other end in your bench vise. The magazine catch locks to the block, safely and securely holding the rifle for assembly, disassembly, cleaning, or repair. Double-ended design fits ArmaLite® AR-10®, Bushmaster .308, DPMS Panther™ LR-308, and Remington R-25. Does not fit Rock River Arms lower receivers. Machined from rugged, durable, chemical-resistant Delrin® polymer; will not mar or scratch weapon’s finish.

What Reviewers Are Saying
Fit and Compatibility

Many reviews highlight issues with the fit of the vise block in various rifle models, indicating that while it works well with some, it does not fit properly with others, leading to frustration for customers needing a specific performance. This theme is prevalent in almost half of the reviews, showing a lack of consistent compatibility across different brands and models.
Product Quality and Machining
61%
Several customers express disappointment with the overall quality of the product, noting poor machining and dimensional inaccuracies that compromise usability. These critiques suggest that the block requires significant modifications before it can be effectively used, leading to a negative perception of its value for the price.
Customer Service
45%
Positive mentions of customer service are frequent, with many reviewers praising the responsiveness and effectiveness of the support team in resolving issues or processing returns, which reinforces loyalty to the brand despite product shortcomings.
Value for Money
38%
The pricing of the vise block is cited as an area of concern, with multiple reviewers feeling that its quality does not justify the cost. This sentiment is rooted in experiences where the product's performance falls below expectations, leading to comparisons with lower-cost alternatives that may perform better.
Ease of Use
40%
Some users mention that while the block is designed for use in gun building, many found it to require additional fitting or modification, which detracted from the tool's ease of use. This theme reflects the need for a product that meets users' expectations straight out of the box.

Worked perfectly in My Aero Precision
Did my first build. Worked perfectly in my Aero Lower. I have not yet tried it in my SR25 or Noreen Lowers. No issues at all holding securely for barrel installation.

Works as advertised
Fits my M&P 10 perfectly. Nice solid hold while cleaning or working on my rifle.

Yes, you have to fit it.
This is a gunsmith tool, and as such it didn't surprise me that it required a little bit of fitting. I wouldn't have it any other way, because I got a nice tight fit on my DPMS Recon. Guys who are sanding and dremel-ing on nylon are doing way too much work. It only took a couple of passes with a sharp knife to break the corner on only two of the edges of this block. Now my rifle sits over the vise and does not move. Excellent.

Works Great
I just got this block and it works great in both my AR-10 mag well and my R-25/LR308 mag well. Does exactly what it's supposed to.

Will not fit a S&W M&P10 .308
This is a very nice product but will not fit the highly proprietary S&W M&P10. I thought it would work since the DPMS mags fit the M&P10 without issue. The block is just slightly too large on the DPMS side and will not enter the well more than one inch before jamming. I intend to keep it as it is the closest match that I have found to date, and it appears that a little sandpaper work will achieve a fit.

Great product, awful price
The block itself is solid and exactly what you would expect in a lower receiver vise block. It fits perfectly with my DPMS lower. The block itself earns 5 stars, when you don't consider the cost.

Not a good fit
Nice quality but found out that it DOES NOT fit a SIG716 magwell...its to big or the Sig is to small.May work on other AR-10 style rifles.

.308 Lower Receiver Block
I purchased the Lower Receiver Block to work on a KAC SR25 and it was way too tight for the magwell, would only go in 1/3 the way. Worked on a Larue rifle, but not on the KAC, so I had to return it. As usual, Brownells exceptional customer service was on the money and refunded my account.....even though the block did not fit, I am very pleased with the CS...that is why I am a loyal customer

Obviously mismanufactured
On further review, it's obvious to me that their fixture slipped at some point and no one noticed that the whole thing is off by 10 degrees which pretty much negates its usefulness as a tool. I've seen better Jr High School shop projects. I wish I would've seen the Sincair tool for half the price before I bought this.

An unsatisfactory tool
For the price of this tool, you would think that they would've finished it. Out of the package it is not useable. The angles that are milled into it are off by at least 10 degrees, it won't lock into the receiver like a magazine does. The edges have to be cut off before it will even enter the mag well. This is no more than a kit, to be finished by the end user and as such it is worth no more than the base material, $10.00 at the most! Don't waste your money on this.
