30-06 SPRINGFIELD BRASS CASE

30-06 SPRINGFIELD BRASS CASE Reviews & Ratings

Norma Brass provides the serious reloader a premium grade, quality cartridge to reload. Norma Brass is bulk packed from the same lot. We try to keep a good supply of brass in inventory, but due to factory production and delivery delays, we may occasionally be out of some cartridges. Norma Brass is made to such exact standards that the cartridges typically include machined case heads, drilled (not punched) flash holes and close tolerance wall thickness.

Excellent Brass
Excellent brass. Ready to load right out of the box. Primer pockets reamed, trimmed and chamfered.

Bad initial impression
I don't normally take the time to do reviews but hope this may save at least one person the frustration I had getting this brass corrected. This is the first time I've used Norma brass and had high hopes. The bag of 100 pieces of brass arrives loose in a clear plastic bag. There is no additional packaging and the bag was loose vs wrapping the brass tight to keep it from banging around. This lead to several pieces of brass having severely damaged necks. They do give you a couple extra pieces of brass expecting there to be damage (assumption on my part as I received 102 pieces total). I full length sized all the brass and after that, there were still over 20 pieces of brass that had pretty severe nicks/dings in the necks. After a few reloadings, it will get to a point to where they will get trimmed down beyond the damaged areas but that's not the point. I use a Lyman case prep center and the pockets on this brass are extremely tight and irregular! That is my biggest gripe as a whole. Even after spending more time on this brass than any other (including "cheap" Winchester, Federal, Hornady, etc.) trying to get the primer pockets uniform, I still had a hard time getting the primers to fully seat. There are obvious pros to having a tight primer pocket but this is ridiculous. I fully expect this brass to work like a charm after several reloadings (and put in the hours to get this brass corrected) but the amount of case prep required out of the gate is beyond that of any other brass I've used. I will not buy Norma brass again and for the money, it's well worth it to spend just a little more on the truly high quality Lapua, Peterson, Alpha type brass or save some money and just get the other "cheap" brands previously mentioned. Not worth the price of admission for this quasi-premium priced brass that falls short. Spend more or less but do yourself a favor and skip this one. I wish there was a review like this before I purchased...
