Recoil reduction
I have used these brakes since Brownells started having them in stock. My customers have all been well pleased with the performance they get after installing. Minimum recoil reduction has been 30%. Some say 50%. It varies with each individual. They work. The only issue is the noise is dramaticly increased. Hearing protection would be need when shooting.

Received a Mislabled Brake
I have used dozens of Shrewd Brakes and can recommend them without reservation. My most recent experience, however, shows a caution that I had not anticipated. I drilled out a brake to .30 caliber and bead blasted it in preparation for bluing. Heated up the salt bath to temperature and dipped in the brake. It would NOT take blue. It was quickly apparent that this brake, although labeled Chrome Moly, was Stainless Steel. Apparently it was mislabeled by the supplier. When I called Brownells for a replacement, I had to wait a total of 120 minutes on 4 separate calls, sometimes using the "call-me-back" option, and sometimes waiting because I was "Number 3 in the queue." I was shuttled to the "support team" a few times because apparently the person answering the phone could not make a decision to replace an item that had already been machined. FRUSTRATING!! Moral: Test the brake with a drop of cold blue before you assume it is carbon steel or stainless.

machine work is professional and threads were proper. threaded the muzzle on a 300 win mag opened the break up for the 30 cal. customer said the recoil was much better thanks for a professional product
Outstanding product
Initially I was concerned about the low price for this product as you generally get what you pay for. I wanted the best brake possible to tame the recoil on a Sako M75 300RUM and I wasn't about to put something cheesy on this setup. Upon receipt, the craftsmanship was apparent under close inspection. The recoil reduction was well above 50% making this rifle pleasant to shoot. (The recoil had been substantial) This brake didn't affect accuracy. I highly recommend this product.

I am a Gunsmith and have installed plenty of Muzzle brakes! This is one of the cheapest! and the Quality is excellent, the threads are very high quality and the fit is a very tight class 3B thread! Does recoil reduction VERY well!! About %40 less recoil!
Great product
This muzzle brake is a great value and works wonders. The recoil reduction for my sons mossburg 30-06 was better than 50%. I would say a .223 has more kick after installing it.
Works better than expected
Installed this brake on a hard kicking 300WSM Weatherby Vanguard. It was so uncomfortable to shoot that the owner never used it. After installing the brake you can shoot it offhand and watch through the scope as the bullet impacts the target. Sound increase was neglegable. I would not fir it from the prone and I'm pretty sure the escaping gasses would dig a BIG hole.
