Roughers are .010" smaller in diameter than the final size, do not cut the throat area and should be used to save wear on the Finish Reamer when many chambers are to be cut. If only a few chambers will be cut, a Finish Reamer is all you need.

Repairs undersized chambers quickly!

There I was with 2 brand new big name revolvers and many brands of ammo would not chamber though the ammo was within SAAMI specs. The chambers on the guns were not even close. SAAMI dimensions call for a tapered chamber that is wider by several thousandths at the breech end to assure easy loading and extraction. The chambers were straight reamed at a diameter below spec. Cutting a long taper in production takes more time, especially doing 10 holes, so manufacturers take short cuts. This reamer in a few minutes using a tap wrench and Do-drill oil produces a perfect SAAMI sporting chamber that will accept every brand of ammo I've found, but with no loss of accuracy. I wrap the cylinder in leather and clamp in a vise lightly. Take your time and remove chips often. No surprise. Every reamer and cutting tool I've ever bought from Brownells worked swell.
