Nighttime and low light shooting tests prove sights equipped with these glowing dots are easier to see and more accurate than instinctive shooting with standard black sights. Rugged, heavy duty, Traser®, luminous, 3-Dot tritium lamps provide their own long-lasting energy source. Lamps are mounted in silicone-sealed, metal cylinders to give maximum protection from breakage or leakage. Polished sapphire, crystal windows give a bright, crisp and perfectly round aiming dot in low light. Inlaid white rings around each sapphire make the sights appear as standard white dots in daylight. Very narrow blades do not have the white ring and will look more like a plain black blade in daylight. Most can be installed in factory dovetail or sight base. Tenon, staked, 1911 models require use of special Trijicon installation tools to prevent sight damage.

Rock Island 1911 Commander

I used it on a rock island 1911 commander. It did require fitting and filing to install. If you dont have the proper tools and knowledge take it to a gunsmith, a gunsmith is cheaper than destroying it by filling the wrong angle or taking off too much.

As Advertised

Another great value from Brownells. Received the sights ahead of scheduled delivery. Took them to my gunsmith to have them installed on my RIA 1911 expecting to wait a couple of days. He had no trouble installing them, they fit PERFECTLY with no modification. The sight are bright enough , even in low light, to see without screwing up your night-vision. The green dots are not as large as the day-time white dots which, for me anyway, makes them a non-distractor like some of the other sights that are overly bright and large. for day time shooting the white dot stands out very well, even when aiming at lighter colored targets. In the "Pros" section I have easy to install marked but keep in mind these do have to be installed by a gunsmith or someone very experienced with the propper tool.

absolutely love these sights! great visability and easy to install. only 4 stars because you have to have the proper installation block and brass hammer/punch set.

Disappointed

Trijicon: This was my first set of Trijicon night sights and I have to say these are DIM (IMO), made in 01/13 I was very disappointed in the quality of brightness, I realize that they can not glow extremely bright but they should be brighter then this. The size of the dots are good for me being in my mid 50's. Brownell's: Very helpful & knowledgeable people, fast shipper A+++++++++++

these sights do not fit my Para Warthog at all.i will be returning them.
