Perfect fit
Dropped right in to my Springfield GI. Perfect fit. had to reduce tension a bit.
Just what was needed
I purchased this extractor to replace the garbage extractor in an ATI Titan 3" 1911 I was given. The original part would not retain the correct tension. Even after using my Weigand extractor adjusting tool. Adjust, fire two mags, failure to extract. So I purchased this extractor. It took some fitting just to get it into the slide, then I tensioned it with the Weigand tool. I got it to 25 ounces and completed the install. 100% reliable feeding and extraction. I recommend the M1911 Complete Assembly Guide as a great reference resource for any Home gunsmithing on an M1911 of any brand. Very helpful while I was fitting the extractor. Yep Brownell's sells the book and its companion book. Both get 5 stars from me.
Solved failures in my Kimber 1911s
I had a few polymer Kimbers with reliability issues. I bought these, tuned them according to instructions I saw on YouTube, and they have not failed me since. Later I added an EGW flat bottom firing pin stop to help when shooting +P loads. Love it!
Works great - Springfield 1911 A1 Mil Sp
I had to replace my extractor and the Wilson Combat Bullet Proof works better than the new one did. I'm getting another for my Micro Compact.
The Best
At first, When i tried to insert the extractor, it would not go in. I then pushed a little harder and (happily) it slid in snug as snug can get, with no movement into my Mark IV/Series 70 Colt.
Great Extractor
Fit in my Kimber Custom II like a glove. Extractor fits flush on the rear of slide, and does it's job when firing the gun. Just had to bend it to get it to it's desired tension. The color is a nice matte black that blends in with the slide.
Beware
ordered 2 of these for a customer and they were both very weak. I could bend them with just my hands! I called Wilson's customer service and the tech told me they are having problems with their supplier. I thought they made them but apparently they don't. It could be a temporary issue but why risk it. I personally prefer Ed Browns parts.
