Ed Brown Sear Jig
This puppy works beautifully! I mounted a NOS Colt sear, using my factory 1911 Kimber sear pin in the jig. I was able to get a perfect primary angle with the 0.020" shim at the mid-point of the jig body. I marked the jig body with a sharpie, so, I could keep the shim at the same reference point.
For the secondary relief angle, I used a stack of old feeler gauges at 0.125" to raise the body of the sear. It only took about six passes on a soft Arkansas stone to get a nice relief cut. Lastly, I touched up the meeting point of the angles with a special black Arkansas stone to remove the burr.
Mounting it in my machinist's vise made it a lot easier to use.
This jig is very well machined.
The result was a 4.5 lb. trigger pull that feels like a 3 lb. trigger pull in my Kimber 1911. There is no creep. I just dressed up a NOS Colt hammer's hooks a bit with a hard and then a special black Arkansas stone.
Yes, I punted the Kimber MIM sear and hammer.
The jig made this a 30 minute job with a spectacular result. You do have to download the PDF instructions from the Ed Brown website though.

Glad I Bought This!
I have a series 70 Colt Combat Commander that I use to carry. It always had a heavy, not too crisp trigger pull. And I’ve had some experience, as a hobbyist/ tinkerer with guns, so I thought I would try and smooth out the trigger on my Colt. I read the instructions, watched a few videos and turned my Commander into a smooth 4.5lb trigger pull from a 6.75lb rough trigger pull. Glad I made this purchase. Now the only creep, is the guy pulling the trigger! 😂

Ed Brown 1911 Sear Jig
Ordered a Cylinder & Slide light trigger set for a 1911 to install in my Walther Colt 1911-22lr. Kit fit fine and trigger pull was a great improvement over stock. Problem I ran into was, the slide would not lock hammer into cocked position. I spoke with C&S and they recommended a simple fix of shortening the nose of the sear. Ordered the Ed Brown 1911 Sear Jig to ensure proper angle of sear nose was retained. Along with proper filing stones and an Arkansas stone for finish polish...worked out perfect. Ended up with a sub 3lbs trigger that breaks like glass in my Walther Colt 1911-22. Will also use fixture to fine polish sears in my Colt Gold Cup and Government model 1911's in 45 auto. Well worth the price, plus a fun project.
Ed Brown Sear Jig
I used this sear jig on a new Springfield 1911 Range Officer chambered in 9mm to improve the trigger feel. The trigger pull started at 6.25 lbs and after reshaping the sear the trigger pull was improved to 4 lbs. Along with reshaping the sear other trigger parts were stoned to reduce friction. The end results provided a smoother trigger with a sharp crisp brake with reduced pull. The online Ed Brown instruction video made the entire process easy.
Great trigger job tools.
I am a shooter but I love gun work also.So I ordered stone set , Brownells 1911 hammer SQ.file and Ed 1911 sear jig at the same time for reduce and smooth trigger. These are great tools for 1911 trigger job.
