Reliable Quality Barrels
This is a gunsmith fit barrel and is fairly straightforward if you have the right tools and skill/training to fit 1911 barrels. Kart barrels are known for quality and this barrel was no exception.

Kart Commander
Installed in Colt L/W Commander and it shoots great. Shot a .530 inch group at 25 yds. Have another I installed in a Caspian 5" and it shoots great also. Really like these Barrels alot, fitting is not too bad. Get the Brownells Lug cutter and the Kart File. The File has smooth edges so you dont mess up the hood, one of the best files I have ever used. Nice Barrel
I used this barrel in a custom build; STI frame/Caspian slide. The fitting was fairly easy, not a lot of filing. Took my time, lined it up with the firing pin hole, set clearances, and wound up with a smooth cycling, accurate pistol. I have used Kart barrels in other builds, they are one of the best. Highly recommended.
Installation not simple but Shoots great
I consider myself pretty handy but installation takes about 7 hours with careful measurement and filing. my 1911 is an original 1913 manufacture date. Watch some youtube videos and reference your old barrel a LOT. The instructions are good only once you have watched videos about fitting barrels (they are not a step by step). There is a lot of important information there but you don't understand the context until you get working. The trigger saddle must be filled to match original barrel. You do not need to alter anything original and my old original barrel will go right back in. I had to clearance the bottom of the Kart barrel to allow it to unlock and not hit the slide. It shoots very true and so is a great value
Excellent Accuracy
Very easy to install using the provided instructions. With proper installation can achieve 2 groups at 50yards. Most used barrel at Camp Perry Shoots. First upgrade to my 1911s when purchased.
Kart barrels
I have used Kart barrels in precision pistols for 35 years and never been disappointed. They are manufactured from forgings and the top lugs usually fit perfectly without any work. Extremely accurate and excellent for cast or swaged lead bullets, most other truly match grade barrels are more expensive. Fitting must be accomplished by a competent person for best results.
Excellent Gunsmith Fit Barrel
This is a really nice gunsmith fit barrel. It is oversized in all the right areas (hood width/length and lower lugs). Geometry was spot on and while it required removing material from the hood and lugs, it wasn't excessive. Link pin hole required a light pass with a reamer to get a good fit with a .154" pin. Once everything was fit, the chamber only required a few turns with a finish reamer to complete the installation.
The best 1911 barrel hands down
Accept no substitutes, Kart barrels are the best hands down. Ask any of the top 1911 smiths and they will agree. Fred uses a proprietary honing process not even his wife knows. His barrels have the best bores you'll ever see. Oversized in the right spots for gunsmith fit.
The Best for your money
Best barrel for wadcutter for the money,, never been dis satisfied with final accuracy, all under a 2" group at 50 yards,, and I have installed a bunch of them. Not the greatest for hardball, but a great wadcutter barrel
None Better
This barrel is a standard on the bullseye line. It requires gunsmith fitting. If you look down the bore you won't see any machine marks which adds to the accuracy.
