1911 PRACTICAL EXTRACTORS

1911 PRACTICAL EXTRACTORS Reviews & Ratings

Much has changed since the original 1911 design, and technology, manufacturing and steel quality has enabled manufacturers to develop components with durability that John Browning could never have imagined. One such component is the 1911 Practical Extractor from EGW. In comparison to original 1911 extractors, the EGW 1911 Practical Extractor features several improvements designed to improve functionality. This extractor is .025 inch shorter than the standard GI extractor, which prevents the extractor hook from constantly banging against the case, which causes it to lose tension and lead to jams. The extractor also features a radiused cut on both sides of the extractor hook, which increases strength, preventing a failure point. Finally, the EGW 1911 Practical Extractor is vacuum heat-treated, which preserves the springing property of the extractor and allows it to maintain tension for up to 70,000 rounds. Extractors are available for Series 70 and Series 80 guns and can be had in 9mm, 38 Super, .40-caliber and .45 ACP.

Just the ticket
Required only minor filing to the top of the extractor claw to clear the case extractor groove bevel, and then ran 100% with zero extractor marks on case bevel.

I’ve used these before and trust them to be of great quality

Wow
I installed this in my SA Ronin as I wasn't happy with the factory extractor. The difference was very noticeable. It's easy to adjust the tension and it holds the tension well. The hook needed nothing done to it which I think is fantastic. EGW hit this one out of the park.

EGW extractor
Installed the egw practical ss extractor in my custom commander to replace a worn out one. I'll use this brand from now on. Dropped right in with minor tuning and works flawlessly. Backcut on the hook is perfect. Bought 3 more for future use.

EGW does it again...
Once more EGW shows how good they are at making quality products. This part will last for the life of the your 1911, as long as you set it up right. Fit and tune it right, and use the correct mags, it'll be the extractor you'll ever use. Enjoy!

Just as nice the the HD version.
I'm not sure why they bothered making this product. The HD version isn't much more expensive and in theory is better. I have fit/tuned it to a pistol that I previously have the HD version in just as a test and well a properly fit extractor will work no matter the brand for the couple hundred rounds I have through it so far. If the HD is out of stock and you need an extractor this is a solid choice, otherwise spend the extra few dollars.
