The Brownells 1911 Plunger Tube Staking Tool is essential for any pistol smith. The easy-to-use design lets you secure the plunger tube to the frame without fear of tube crush or expensive frame damage. The Plunger Tube Support slips inside plunger tube and prevents compression damage while tube is being staked to frame. Adjustable to fit all makes of frames and tubes for both installing and re-tightening. The NEWER design includes a 10-32 screw with hardened crimping point assures long tool life. The support and hardened staking screws for the newer and older staking tool are available for individual sale.

Better late han never

The tool was worth the wait. Nicely engineered and easy to use but it was out of stock for a long time. I dont understand why an in demand item like this wasnt available sooner.

Worked as designed

This tool worked as designed for my Springfield 1911, however, I had to make several attempts for a strong connection and the small part to protect the spring plunger tube would crush or dent in the tube causing me to resize tube to install the spring. And yes I did use the wire inside the tube to prevent that from happening. All in all this tool did do as designed.

Plunger tube staking tool

I think the tool is great. but I think the plunger Saddle there should be different sizes. on the colt saddle fits perfect. but on the Springfield there Plunger tube is a little larger so it does not fit correctly. so I made another to fit it. so overall pretty good tool.

GREAT TOOL FOR THE JOB

WORKED EXACTLY AS INTENDED

Overall a good value for money

It's the proper tool for the job, the main issue I had was properly aligning it with the rear rivet on the plunger tube. Looking for a black hole on in the magazine well is a bit tricky. However, if one simply takes it slowly it's fairly straight forward to fit the tool into the rivet and properly seat the tube.

Should have this

Works as advertised. As I was crimping the plunger tube, I did indeed feel the Staking Support become temporarily seized inside the plunger tube. However, when the pressure from the crimper was relieved, the Staking Support slid out of the plunger tube easily. A little expensive, but it does prevent damage to the plunger tube, which also saves time and frustration.
