The Brownells 1911 Plunger Tube Staking Tool is essential for any pistol smith. The easy-to-use design lets you secure the plunger tube to the frame without fear of tube crush or expensive frame damage. The Plunger Tube Support slips inside plunger tube and prevents compression damage while tube is being staked to frame. Adjustable to fit all makes of frames and tubes for both installing and re-tightening. The NEWER design includes a 10-32 screw with hardened crimping point assures long tool life. The support and hardened staking screws for the newer and older staking tool are available for individual sale.

Best tool for staking 1911 plunger tubes

Had a customer come to me with a new 1911 Sig, that had a loose plunger tube. The finish on this 1911 was a pewter tumble of some sort, it had me thinking that if possible, I did not want to damage the tube, or finish while staking. I owned several staking tools, but decided I needed to see if someone had come up with a better tool. I looked at Midways selection and a couple of others, none had good reviews or would not support the tube while re-staking. I ordered the Brownell tool. When it arrived, I read the brief instruction page included, then re-staked the front and rear swages, without full disassembly. Test fired, with no loose or movement of plunger tube.
