Refresh old mags
I had three old worn mil spec 1991 mags that were not 100% reliable. These kits fit perfectly & converted them into 8 rounders. I tested them with snap caps & they functioned perfectly. I am looking forward to live fire with them this weekend & an ISPC event.

Had some old Colt 7 round mags laying around and for the price I decided to give this kit a try. Works like a champ! Don't let the welded butt plate scare you off, had the first one cleaned and converted in less than 10 minutes.

I used these kits to convert magazines that wouldnt feed properly into well functioning, 8 round mags. I'm very happy with this product.
Perfect Replacement
Very satisfied with these; the nylon followers worked better than the original metal ones and made loading and unloading very smooth. You may have to file the mag catch slot to be a bit taller, as with the new springs, these formerly 7 round mags would not lock in with the slide closed; locks fine with slide open.

I bought some no name 1911 mags cause they were on sale. They fed fine, but the followers would not trigger the slide stop. So I bought these, put them in and they totally did the trick! Wilson Combat always meets my needs!
Springs are very weak, Multiple FTF
Failures to feed, the springs are weak and compress too easily, they end up being an inch shorter after the first time you install them into the Colt standard mag.filling to capacity in 8 rounds, the top round will literally fall out and the last round wont chamber properly. Use the follower with a stock spring and you will be ok, So, maybe if Wilson just sold followers, this would be ok. Same result in all my stock mags, CMC, Colt, and original GI
Does not work as advertised
Does not work as advertised I tried them in a Kimber 8-round magazine, and it brought the usable capacity down to seven, you can get 8 in the magazine, but then you can't lock it up inside the gun, when the slide is closed. The spring feels a little on the weak side. I also own a Wilson Combat 8-round magazine, and I tried it in that and it didn't work, as the follower with the kit is different, it does not move freely within the magazine of the Wilson Combat. I thought about contacting Brownells requesting a refund but it would probably cost me just as much in shipping back to them, as what the kit cost. I guess I'll just keep the things (yes ordered 3 kits)for my 7 round magazines. You know what they say hindsight's 20/20. After discovering the problem I went on YouTube to see if anybody had a solution I found out there's a lot of people out there disappointed with Wilson's products, mainly .dealing with their magazine. I just became one of disappointed people.
Didnt work for me
Tried these C45 version kits in Colt GI pattern 7rd mags. Easy to change out even on these welded baseplate mags. The mags then indeed hold 8 rds of 45 Auto. Barely ! As there is absolutely zero room to further compress the top round these mags absolutely refuse to lock in. They lock fine with the slide back and or when containing only 7 rds. Understand that , in my case, youre not going to be able to load and then top off your mag too 8 rds. I wanted to carry 8 plus 1. Not happening with this kit in my 1911s.
