1911 FRONT SIGHT STAKER

1911 FRONT SIGHT STAKER Reviews & Ratings

The Brownells Front Sight Staker makes front sight staking effortless, faster and far more accurate. Using an improved, offset punch design efficiently directs the full force of the hammer blow downward against the sight tenon. The hardened "V"-shaped tip easily displaces both wide and narrow tenons for a great-looking, tight-fitting front sight that won't shoot loose. It has a large square shaft that is easier to hold, see, and hit so there's less chance of a missed hammer blow striking your customer's expensive slide.

Looks very well made.....
I had a home made one, but it was made from a suppressor wrench and blunt. The hardened bit on this design is the cats pj's. I'm waiting on sights but I've been doing this long enough to know- this thing is gonna make staking A LOT easier. Very happy with it.

It does not come complete and must be ordered with the 080870213 Swage Point. Otherwise it is an amazing tool!

Right Tool For The Job
You can have a gunsmith install your 1911 front sight for the cost of this tool. Or you can try it yourself and get the pride of accomplishment as well. You can keep the tool just in case the sight happens to work loose or pass it on. I definitely recommend a drill press vise along with it this tool that supports the slide at the angle of the top of the sight. I found the steel used in the sight is relatively soft and does not require a heavy hammer or blows to flatten the stake.

Its perfect, but we miss the good ol' days!
The Brownells 1911 front sight staker is great. Quality construction, itll last, like forever, just have to keep the employees from loosing them! Big gripe though, Brownells USED to have a wide selection of tools a true gunsmith that sees many different types of firearms through the shop, not just AR's to work on. Now, seems those 'old' time smithin' tools are no longer carried by Brownells. I understand that there probably isnt a big demand for these tools of yesteryear, but occasionally they are still needed. Maybe supply we old smiths with info to manufacturers of the old stuff. Just a thought. AR's are slowing down, and most novices like to tinker with building them at home, not a bad thing.
