Installed on my combat commander and had to do some slight file and stone work. It functions great!

Great quality - Be ready to fit it!
Not "drop in" but not far from it. Go slow. The "nose" on the front needs to be shortened first. Then it's height top to bottom. Compare it with your OEM grip safety and use calipers if you have them. Completely disassemble your frame to include the grips. Then you can look through the rear, sides and the thumb safety hole to make sure everything is working together well. The matte finish almost perfectly matched my Colt. No complaints here. Feels great and should be much more comfortable than the thin G.I. style unit. Buy it. Go slow.
Not a drop in but good stuff
Used in a Colt series 80 Commander. Not a drop in, requires fitting. DO NOT Attempt if you are not familiar how to do it. A Youtube video is not the way to learn. I have had to attempt to repair way to many firearms because "I watched a video and didn't look hard".
Great value, but took some fitting
Nice quality and a fraction of the cost of a Nighthawk. Installed on a Colt 70 Series Combat Commander. It took a few rounds of filing to get the armature to clear the inner frame and allow for proper travel. Be patient; take it slow and test fit after each round! Very minor filing/ polishing on a couple of other surfaces, but the radius @ the tang was right on, and the hammer fit in the pocket nicely. Worth the effort to get rid of that bite on the web of the hand, and best of all, no filing to the frame or tang was required! Brownells shipped the order out right away, but UPS was 1 wk late delivering; it was stuck in their KC hub a while. A sign of the times I guess.
Almost perfect.
Dropped right into a 2015 Norc 1911A1 with minimal honing. If there was 2mm more material to get a tighter fit, it'd be 5 stars. You may want to smooth out the edges where it sits in your hand as well.
Wilson Drop in Grip safety for Colt 80 S
I installed this in a Colt GCNM 80 Series. I did have to work on this a couple hours to get it to fit. All I could do was trial and error but it die work fine after finishing the install. If you plan to install this prepare to be patient and file a very small amount each time and check for fit and function. This is a great way to upgrade without having to cut Gun.
Very nice
Shipping was fast.. and the beaver tail safety finish is nice and matches my pistol. It only took a bit of honing with my stone to fit and it looks and works great !! There is a tiny gap between the safety and the pistol, but only I can tell...
Some Fitting Required BUT No Frame MODs
Installed this on my M1991A1 without cutting the frame. Had to cut about 3/32" off and then grind the trigger bow blocking 'finger' to about a 40 Angle and polish for smooth operation. Wish Wilson Combat had given me about 0.05" more material on upper back of the Beavertail (see picture) so that I could have ground and polished the Safety's Beavertail to more precisely fit the back of the frame, but fit pretty well for a 'drop-in' part. Did not want to cut the 'wings' on the back of the frame and have it re-coated at Robar (NP3). Wilson Combat makes quality parts that do what they say they will do and at a reasonable price. Can now use a slightly higher grip vs. the stock 1911 Colt safety. Looks better and shoots better.
Works well - but not drop in
I installed the blued version of this Wilson drop in part in a 1950s vintage Colt which required no frame fitting but left a gap between the frame and safety. This stainless drop in part, installed in a 1980s Colt Combat Elite required a fair amount of metal removal from the frame tang to allow it to move properly. Although this extra work allowed the grip safety to fit much tighter to the frame than the blued part in the other gun. So it looks much better. (See photos to compare fits of each part. Note: SS part still in process at time of photo.) Minor fitting of the safety lever arm to the rear of the trigger bow was still required. But that is easy to do. Note: To help with how much metal you may need to remove, measure the original part at those critical locations as a starting point.
Modern upgrade to an old pistol
I installed this grip safety into a 1950s vintage Colt that I use for NRA Bullseye competition. Although the stock grip safety worked, I like the feel and have gotten used to the "speed bump" that is on the grip safety of a newer 1911 that I use for tactical shooting. So I decided to add this part to the Colt. Not having to cut the frame and then have it re-blued was very appealing to me. Minor fitting of the safety lever arm to the rear of the trigger bow was required. But it was easy to do. This part looks good and the bluing matches perfectly with the gun's frame and works as advertised. The only reason Im not giving it 5 stars is that there is a gap between the safety and the frame tang. Maybe because of the design year of the gun.
