Out of spec.
Tried this on a Colt Government Model and a Springfied Mil Spec. In both cases inserting the thumb safety pin took a bit of wiggling and jiggling and in both cases the thumb safety and the grip safety locked up tight and wouldn't move. I'm thinking the hole in this item is drilled or cast at an angle, not square to the flat sides. Too bad because it boogered up the whole project. Back it goes.

This is NOT a drop in replacement, It will NOT Fit into a Kimber, or a Smith and Wesson, or an American Tactical, or a Colt, or a Sig Sauer . .. . . . . I have my doubts that it even specked to the the 1911 I don't know what it will fit in because it requires so much modification that it doesn't resemble the original part sent to me.
Not a quality part or fit
Huge gap at top between frame and safety. Totally unacceptable for what is supposed to be a "drop in fit" for the new enhanced 1911 Colt frame. Do not waste your time and money on this poor knockoff, order a genuine Colt part instead.
Listed as drop in for Norinco, no way
I originally purchased the regular 1911 Safety which Wilson lists as a drop in for Norinco 1911's. It dropped right in but with an obscene gap that looked as though it would chew up my hand when fired. I called Wilson and sent them some photos and they told me it will not fit the Norinco and that that the Commander style would fit better, so they exchanged it. The Commander style eliminates the gap but doesn't allow the thumb safety holes to line up. The piece will have to be milled to work properly. So if you have a Colt I suppose this works fine but any other copy beware.
A waste of time and effort
Item installed without a hitch. No fitting needed, however the gap (about an eigth of an inch) between the frame tang and the beavertail itself was completely unacceptable. Item had to be removed and returned
NOT A DROP-IN PART
THIS IS NOT A DROP-IN PART. I HAVE SIX OTHER GRIP SAFTIES AND THEY ALL FIT, DIFFERENT MAKES. THIS ONE DOESN'T FIT, NO MATTER WHAT I DO. WILSON HAS HIT A FOUL BALL HERE.
Pivot Hole Seems To Be Crooked
I did the headline above "Pivot Hole Seems To Be Crooked" because that was the effect on the installation,and although I cannot prove it beyond any doubt that I am correct then either the hole is drilled crooked in the grip safety or the hole in the LW Commander frame is not drilled true to the frame. I say this because the thumb safety when installed without the Grip Safety installs correctly in the frame. The "Bind" comes in when you attempt to install the new Beaver Tail safety. Many hours of slow file work on the middle left side of the Safety now allows the safety the freedom of movement with no frame binding or hang ups. I will purchase a second safety to see what happens. Either way I will report my findings.
