Fits well
This safety fit my Colt 1991A1 frame well with minor fitting. It looks great and makes the pistol much more pleasant to shoot. No more hammer bite on my fat hand!

Drops right into my Para GI Expert
The 429BG fit my Para GI Expert and functions perfectly with no modification. There is about a 3/32 gap between the tips of tang and the wide "tail" part of the safety, but doesn't cause any pinching or other problems so far. Everywhere else is a perfect fit. Very happy with this product.

Nice but not drop in
OK, this review is similar to Tyler G's. The grip safety is very nice, fits the frame great, it very closely matches the shape of the standard grip safety, GI 1911 frame. It does require a Commander type hammer. The issue with the fit of the Wilson grip safety, is that it won't let the trigger go back, even fully depressed. As shipped, gripped, it still blocks the trigger bow. I had to file a little off the bottom edge, so the trigger bow would clear it. Easy enough, took a couple minutes, little at a time to get it to clear, un-grip and it swings down and blocks the trigger from its backward movement. Keep in mind, I'm not a gunsmith. This is a target pistol. Would I purchase again. You bet, easy enough to install, even with the filing. I watched a great Youtube video on this, posted by jeffshootsstuff.

Excellent product
This is an excellent product that will enhance your grip on the gun. I installed this on a Colt traditional design 1911 (O1991, Government Model), and it greatly improved my grip. I found that the longer spur on the grip safety for the traditional designs are still not enough to protect the web of the hand from hammer bites when doing a high grip. This product have both a beaver tail design and a raised pad to ensure positive engagement (or rather disengagement) of the safety, without modifying the frame of the pistol. There will be a noticeable gap between the frame and the safety on the back side, but I do not mind it. NOTE: this safety is designed for 1911 with traditional Series 70 firing systems. It is not designed for newer Series 80 firing systems, as Colt calls them, and similar safety designs, as the safety tang/lever will interfere with the Series 80 parts. It can, however, be modified by slimming (filing or whetstoning) the tang to the pattern of the Series 80 grip safety.

Perfect fit and function
This was a perfect fit and function drop-in for a stock Rock Island 1911A1. I combined it with a Rock Island Commander hammer and it functioned perfectly. It was comfortable and smooth against my hand and the finish was impeccable as would be expected from this manufacturer. Ahead of time, I was concerned about the small gap between the frame and the beaver tail but this is not noticeable against my hand.

my early officers model had a rough grind on frame. had to file lightly but it did fit and is much better then GI style that came with gun.
