Top shelf
Have been using Metalform mags for over 30 years now, and still some of the best quality in the industry.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Good mags
I have used and sold these mags for years. They are consistently the best 1911 mags you can get.
Works great, don't break
I just got an ria 1911, wanted spare mags. I got 2 of these on a great sale and they work fine the couple times I've had them out. no issues. I think I prefer the mags with thicker plastic baseplates for easier manipulation,. But these are fine for rangetime.
As good as it gets
GREAT magazines! Run like greased lightning in my stainless Colt 1911. No finer 1911 magazine made, IMHO. You can pay more, but you won't get more quality than this Metalform magazine.
Identical to my kimber 8rd mags
I have 8 spare 1911 mags for my twin custom 1911s. 3 are kimber and the other 5 are these. The only way to tell a difference is the kimber mags have kimber stamped in the floor plate while my metal form brand have no markings at all. They are identical from the follower to the witness holes. I have had no issue from any of the mags in either gun. All drop free, and the fit and function are perfect. I haven't changed the magazine catch on either of my guns (both started off as older model Rock Island Arms Tactical series). I have had my mags for quite a few years with hundreds of rounds through each magazine. Unless something has been changed about the mags they should fit and feed just as well as their kimber brand twins. Also I've kept all of mine loaded to full capacity while stored the entire 8+ years I've owned them and I still have no issues with reliability from the first round to the last. I'm sorry the other reviewer hasn't had the same luck with these mags but they have been perfect in both of my guns and have been used to prove that a couple of my customers 1911s only had magazine issues instead of some other malfunction in the gun. They've been great magazines for me and my customers who have bought them based on my advice.
Great quality - Great price!
Excellent value. So dependable that I have been using in my carry gun for 15+ years. Suggest if used for competition that rubber bumpers be used; any magazine can only withstand so many speed change drops to the ground. Disassembly not difficult with a short piece of wood ruler (to depress follower) and small punch to hold spring. Round follower works exceptionally well.
100%
Springfield provided these mags with all three 1911s I own. I have about 20 of them and not one has ever failed me. They may not look like they are made of quality but trust me, they will work!
Good product
I bought 2 of these mags for my Series 70 Colt. Fit was perfect and worked flawlessly. Good product. Better then my Colt Mags. I like the SS followers.
Worked well for a long time
Have used these mags a lot. Have only had spring issues with one. After countless speed and tac reloads finally cracked the welds and bent the bases on several of these mags. Other than that for the price they have been great mags and have carried them for duty for many years.
Solid and Simple
I purchased three of these and so far I am happy. They work great in my 1911. Feeding and performance is as good as my 47Ds, CMC Power mags and CheckMate 7rnd hybrid feed-lip w/ dimpled follower. The rounded follower design helps to mimic a round below the last round and will ensure positive ejection should your extractor fail. Removal of the follower for magazine cleaning takes a little more effort. Overall, I think it is a great design and I have no complaints.
