Excellent platform to build from
I bought this to assemble my own custom build. The trigger pull was to heavy for my taste but that is an easy fix. This rifle is a super deal. You cannot get a threaded muzzle, DBM action ready to drop in a stock or chassis for this price. I'm seriously thinking of getting another in .25 Creedmoor!
1500 Mini 6MM ARC
Put this into a Bell and Carlson stock and really enjoying shooting this. Load development has been easy to get to an inch, now working on refining a couple.

6arc
Fit well in my chassis. Only complaint is the only options for a magazine. Would like magazines with a 10 or 12 round option. Aftermarket support is not the best.

Great little gun
Had this under a year and I did have a slight headache with it cause it seems I put a brake on it the barrel did not like. Took that off and it's a shooter without it. Boyds hardwood stock bedded and an Arken scope on it and it can probably to better than I can but on a cool barrel it's around MOA with me. It will certainly put meat in the freezer.

Howa 1500 mini barreled action
Perfect was exactly what I wanted. Would recommend
Excellent sub moa budget build
I’m incredibly impressed by the accuracy of this “heavy” barreled action paired with an MDT Oryx chassis. It’s already producing sub moa 5 shot groups out to 300 yards (.65-.88 moa) and a few 1/3rd moa groups at 100 yards. Developing good handloads was a piece of cake. The rifle is more accurate than I am right now.
The trigger is great for factory but I have a Timney on order to help with precision. Bolt lift is a little heavy and your hand ends up real close to large scopes. For the money it can’t be beat.

Semi custom build
I bought this 20” HB for three reasons. It’s chambered in the 6 ARC, it’s built on the mini action which gives me lightweight and I don’t pay for a stock I’m going to replace anyway. So I put it in a Bell & Carlson varmint profile stock, replaced the cheap plastic bottom “metal” with an aluminum Jefferson floorplate and a Timney trigger. The factory trigger is a solid B but I’m OCD about this so I replaced it anyway. A normal person will probably think it’s a waste of money and I’m not dissing the factory one at all.
There were lots of complaints about the plastic bottom and the mag not functioning well and mine was no different. I kept putting off buying this model for this very reason then discovered Jefferson makes a great BDL type aluminum floorplate so I finally bought the Mini. I never liked detachable mags on a light rifle because the carrying balance point is right where the mag is so it’s awkward to carry. The new bottom metal fixes that , the feeding issues AND the possibility of the plastic breaking at the action screw locations.
I them put the Leupold 1”ringmounts on it. I have multiple scopes I could put on it but leaning in on my Burris Signature 3-15 which is a fantastic value, 20 ounces, a great BDC illuminated reticle with windage dots , locking turrets and crisp glass.
Preliinary 5 shot groups off a very poor sandbag rest that didn’t work well for me at all I was still able to put 5 shots in an inch. That doesn’t sound impressive but I know how unstable I was as I had forgotten my own shooting rest that I can get rock solid with. I am confident this will shoot 1/2 to 3/4” groups all day. The cartridge burns much less powder than the 243 at only about 10% less velocity and the heavier contoured barrel and it didn’t heat up much at all.
Obviously I love this barreled action and heartily recommend any of the models Brownells offers.
I think I may have built the near perfect all around rifle. The gun straddles the fence on weight, shooting ranges, magnification and the caliber. Enough for whitetails close in and coyotes further out, light enough to carry and heavy enough to shoot well. Howa is a very well made in Japan gun at an extremely affordable price and an even better value.
