6.5 grendel "minimag"
Great little foundation for a fun handy little rifle. Mag availability sucks and bottom metal/plastic is not the best but gets the job done.
6.5 Grendel Barreled Action
I currently own a few of these. Great place to start on a decent bolt gun. They're reliable, have their quirks, like any mid range hunting rifles. Howa has remedied a few of the problems their customers have been complaining about, which were minor. I love the caliber selection for the mini actions. 6.5 Grendel and 6mm ARC are my favorites. Finding aftermarket parts is a little difficult but doable. I would definitely purchase this barreled action again. Cheap rounds give cheap results. There is a break in period and method for these. Follow the manufacturers recommendation and you will be fine.

Accurate Rifle!
This thing is a tac driver! Don’t be discouraged when first shooting. It was shooting 6-8” groups until about 45 shots of breaking in the barrel and then kept getting tighter and tighter. Now it’ll shoot three different bullets (2 hand loads and 1 factory ammo) at a sub MOA group after about 65-70 shots. All three were under .75” inches at 100 yards. Awesome rifle!
Howa grendel on Southern cross Chassis
Bought one in Grendel and was able to get a Southern Cross mini chassis, about 600 rounds down and it's shoots a half inch w/handloads. I consider it to be a great unit and easy to shoot. What could be better - magazine availability - there is someone who makes an insert to be able to single shot rounds and it's awesome for the range/load dlvp - bolt is little stiff on release but manageable - trigger is a bit firm for my preference although there is a procedure online/forums to cut the spring down to 2 / 2.5 lb pull. Overall highly recommended at a great price point for one of the most versatile calibers ever designed.
Very Impressed
Probably the smoothest bolt action that I have shot. The accuracy is very impressive. I was zeroing it in at hundred yards and got rained out before I could finish. When I took it to the range the next day, my first shot went through the same hole in the target as the last shot. After I was done, I could place a three round group of Hornady Black with all the holes touching. The magazine is a bit flimsy, but i can live with that. Will probably be upgrading the stock to a chassis soon.
One heck of a deer slayer
I purchased this barreled action in November of 2018 and had in in a Boyd's prairie hunter by november. Used factory ammo for break in. Didn't get too take anything with it this season. But now have finalized my deer and hog load. 127 LRX in a Starline case, cfe223 and cci 450 primers. Gives me 5 round 1/2 groups are less at 200 yards. First shot was too check my dial in and second shot was a scope movement too check that the scope was tracking properly. Then layed down the lower 2 five round groups Action is piller bedded with the scorehi kit and glass bedded with a scorehi bedding kit. Added a custom (metal) bottom metal and the DIP low profile mag release. Added DIP aluminum mag floor plates too each mag and cut down one mag from a 5+1 to a flush fit 4+1. Now I have a mag for target playing and load work up and a nice flush fit hunting mag. My only complaint Howa/LSI needs too make these changes inhouse. They are losing money too aftermarket not building these rifles correctly from the factory. They also need too release a internal mag setup for the mini action.
Should've bought 2
Purchased this barreled action couple months ago when they were on sale. I had done some research on the 6.5 grendel and was impressed with the little cartridge performance. Bedded in Boyd's prairie hunter stock. Did change out plastic bottom trigger guard for dpi bottom metal. Settled on a sig romeo 4x12x40 scope. It has shot 3 different factory loads sub moa.... hornady black and hornady match. Federal 120 gr.. I loaded some speer 90gr under h335 and it's the cat's meow. Perfect rifle for a woman or a kid. Hardly any recoil.
Great
I placed in boyd s at one. Tried many reloads.it shot .5 with ram tac .and120G projectile.it is one of my favorite builds. Very low recoil. Like 223.
