The Howa 1500 6.5 Creedmoor Barreled Action is a great platform for shooters who want to build their own long range, precision rifle at an affordable price. Starting with a standard-dimension forged steel short action (SA) receiver, Howa adds a hammer-forged barrel chambered for the popular new 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge. The tricky headspacing is even done for you. The Howa 1500 6.5 Creedmoor barreled action has a one-piece bolt with traditional twin opposing locking lugs and an M16 style extractor with plunger. Inside the is a crisp, light, two-stage HACT (Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger) trigger that delivers a consistent, smooth pull. The three-position safety allows the action to be unloaded while on safe.

Do not buy from Howa

Bought this gun for my girlfriend for Christmas, put it in an MDT stock and a good high powered scope. Bought 6 different type of quality ammo. We took it to the range to try it out. I have rifles that I can shoot 1/2 moa with all day. This rifle at best would shoot only 2 moa and with factory ammo, the bolt lift after shooting was extremely difficult and the barrel had a scratch in it from the factory. *In setting up this rifle I removed the white silicon type glue on the trigger adjustment screw to get a better trigger pull. This had nothing to do with the function of the action nor accuracy. We sent the rifle back to Howa and after almost 3 months they refused to work on their rifle because I turned the trigger adjustment screw. Now I must find a good gunsmith pay to have it fixed and probably a new barrel put on which will cost me more money and time. Very disappointed in Howa and this will be the last Howa and Weatherby Vanguard (made by Howa) that I buy. Buyer beware.

Do Not buy - Howa is shipping defects

This is my 3rd Howa rifle. The 1st one I bought about 10 years ago in .308 is beautifully finished and shoots great to this day. The 2nd one in .223 Rem I bought about 5 years ago and its not as finely finished as the older .308 and the action is rougher but it shoots MOA all day long. A few months ago I bought one of these 6.5 Creedmoor HB actions and put it in a B&C Medalist stock but could not get it to shoot decent groups. I tried match grade factory ammo and custom reloads with no luck...best group was 1.1 inches at 100 yards. So, I decided to look inside with a borescope and this is what I was horrified to find (see photos). It appears that there are fracture cracks where the barrel screws into the receiver that were filled in with what looks like epoxy. This is where the barrel screws into the receiver. I can't believe HOWA would let this out of the factory! This has got to be unsafe. I contacted LSI/HOWA and sent them these same photos and they had me send the BA back to them but said I would have to wait 30-90 days for a determination!!! So, here's my impression...HOWA used to make excellent rifles about 10 years ago. In the last 5 years the quality of fit and finish has gone down but they still shot good. Now, HOWA rifles are to be avoided because this is what you may wind up with...poor fit and finish, a cracked receiver that was repaired with epoxy that may be unsafe and terrible customer service (30-90 days wait for them to look at a brand new rifle). Look at the photos and you'll agree that HOWA has some explaining to do. Not worth the risk...stay away.
