SOCOM barrel
Very nice barrel. Accurate!
Stripped SOCOM barrel for your Block II build
If you're looking for a clone correct barrel for your SOPMOD Block II build look no further. These are an excellent value as they are accurate and properly gassed. I run mine with a Surefire SOCOM556-RC2. Whoever thinks a stripped barrel should come drilled for FSB pins must have ate paint chips as a child.
Colt SOCOM
Received it on September 27th, shoot it the next day, this barrel is the same as my BCM SOCOM, Tac driver. Five stars
good product
it's a good product, and Brownells' fast shipping and excellent customer support make me very happy. I just wonder why my barrel has a front sling swivel, while previous buyers and pictures on the internet do not have.Is it a promotional gift ?
Good stuff
I'm just a fudd, but the FSB was 1.98" and non F-marked. Threads and muzzle were in good shape. Perfectly cut threads.
No Issues and Fast Shipping
Needed this for my clone build and Brownells was the only one who had it in stock along with the RIS II FSP. Everything came perfect in blue packaging, barrel wick and oiled up. Took it to get a Warcomp pin and welded same day and was shooting the following weekend. Thanks Brownells!
Excellent barrel
Fantastic barrel, came brand new sealed in the blue bag with the cardboard "straw" in the bore. Bright and shiny chrome lining visible from both the muzzle and chamber, polished feed ramps, minimal tooling chatter, included the front sight post and all other parts. Also included was the front sling swivel and rivet. I ordered a swivel and rivet with the expectation of having to install it myself, so that was a pleasant surprise. As others noted, the front sight base is NOT "F" marked, though it is F height so it is meant for a flat top upper. Overall it was a great buy.
Great Barrel
Used for target shooting & self defense. Heavy duty design. Absolutely no issues at all. Colt cage code, even had sling attachment installed. Perfect crown, threads, nut, and sight. Came sealed in blue Colt package with barrel wick, slathered in oil. A little pricy but in today's terms not bad. Thanks Brownell's for having it in stock.
Great Colt SOCOM
It looked like a weird mix of good and bad reviews on this barrel. My example, purchased around early Dec. 2020 was in perfect, new condition, easy to install and has shot absolutely great. I paired it with Aero upper and lower and a Centurion free float rail that goes around the front sight "tower". The rail attaches directly to the mil-spec barrel nut, so everything was super easy. I did have to remove the sling swivel for good rail/barrel clearance, but now I have multiple QD on the rail, so no big deal there. I pinned and welded a Surefire Warcomp closed tine flash suppressor and it is now one of my favorite AR rifles. Only thing that beats it is my LMT NZ.....but this didn't cost $3k.
This is a special option.
It is easy to bang the pins out, put the front sight in a vice and saw the sight tower off, then angle grind it to fit under your favorite low pro hand guard. Bang the pins back in and call it good. This is something that any human can do because the alignment and machining is done already. Much better than screw on gas blocks.
