1911 9MM MAGAZINES

1911 9MM MAGAZINES Reviews & Ratings

The second generation Brownells 1911 magazines combine heavy duty construction with the reliability you've come to expect from a century old service weapon.

The body and follower are constructed from heat treated stainless steel, with witness holes for a fast round count. Xylan~ exterior coating provides corrosion protection, as well as a slick, friction reducing finish. The anti-tilt follower is mated with an extra-power spring.

The removable polymer base pad allows easy disassembly, as well as drop protection when changing magazines on the fly.

9mm 1911 Magazine, 10 Round by BROWNELLS
I picked up 6 of these magazines for my Ruger SR1911 9mm the magazines feed just fine i would have given 5 stars if they would fall free from the magwell but they do not you have to pull them out

Great value but need modify to work
Good: Beats everything out there price wise. Ordered 6 (2x3 packs) when on sale. Bad: Last round rarely holds open on my Norinco NP29 1911, but this might be my gun. Ugly: None of them drop free. Had to sand off the high spot on the front before they drop free. It's not the gun this time because every other brand of mags I tried drop free in the Norinco. For the price they are great option compare to Wilson mags that sale for $70 eahc in Canada, that is if you don't mind a bit of dremel work.

Almost perfect
Bought one for my 9mm single stack competition gun. Looked great out of the package, nice finish, easy to load. It has a bend in the front for some reason (maybe to act as a feedramp?) that catches the frame and won't let it drop free unless you hold the pistol at just the right angle. It's intentional and not a defect as you can see it in the photos. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for that. Not sure I will buy more. It functioned flawless in feeding ammo.

9mm mags
Bought 6 for 2 guns a Girson 9mm and a Colt lw comm. 38 super with a 9mm barrel. Some will not lock back the slide after the last round (also replaced the slide lock on the Girsan, helped some) on both guns. Some will not drop free, The Colt is the worst. Sometimes the top round will nosedive (worse with heavier bullets) My 20-year-old 9 rounders still work good though, but the springs are getting pretty weak.

9mm mags
Bought 6, 2 will not drop free from Girsan 9mm and at luast 1 ammo will nosedive when feeding. Verry hard to get the 10th round in most of them,

Doesn't lock back
In my SA Ronin 4.25" the mags cycled fine but would consistently not lock back on the last round. Strangely enough, each mag (i got the 3 pack) did lock back the first time they were shot. After that 9/10 times they would not lock back. Curiously, after the round was fired and the slide failed to lock back, i also couldn't simply lock it back by just racking the slide. Its like the slide would almost lock back and then "slip". Tried different ammo. Same exact problem. Tried mec gar 9rd mag, ed brown 9 rd mag and the oem mag that came with the gun, they all locked back. I don't have another 1911 to test it with but I'm guessing my gun just doesn't like these mags. Too bad, they were a great price for 10 rounders. Of course YMMV

Good - Except one thing
I ordered 3. The magazines are great except the magazine follower is lousy. Cartridges nose dive leading to failure to feed. Of course that makes the entire mag non-usable as a self defense mag where a person's life might depend on the cartridge actually making it from the mag to the chamber.

Nice but.....
Solid mag and appears to be well made. I bought 6 mags and none of them would feed into the mag well of my STI Trojan w/o binding about 3/4 the way up. Needless to say the do not drop free. I noticed some do not bind as much as others so I put a micrometer to them and found a lot of variation. I mic my mags that do work and they are smaller and more consistent. Just as an aside they did load in my Remington R1 (it is a .45ACP THOUGH). I wanted them to work but will be sending them back.

Cheaper for a reasom
The price is the only good point. If shooting as a hobby, they will fine. I ordered 4 for duty use. All 4 fail to lock back after the last round, and all 4 will not drop freely. I won't even train with these due to the problems.

Not very good
I purchased four of these mags and they would not drop free from my Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander 9mm. Ended up taking some sand paper to them to sand off some of the finish and high spots. some were worse than others. They all finally seem to be working ok now.
