Excellent
Have used several different colors in the last year or so this one was just lighter than I expected but worked out good tuff and. durable in the field and at range. Have got bore cleaner on it no problem so far. Would have gave it five stars if color was a little darker .
Close
Lighter than Magpul in my opinion. I wish they would make a brown between this and earth brown, that would be a true Magpul FDE. Either way I was impressed with this product and would recommend. P.S. and nozzle is complete trash and you should have a pack of them.
Pretty good BUT
I feel this is a 4.5 star finish. I have had a lot Cerakoted and wanted to save time, money and a trip this go around so I tried this myself. Pluses? Its easy. No problem laying it down. Nozzle worked great. Problem was as soon as I was done a bug landed in it so I had to wipe it off and spray again. You can slightly see a wipe mark now. Im not looking for a show finish so it works for me. Cerakote of course would have been flawless. Next I let everything sit 30 days. Its rock hard BUT when picking it up the metal rod I had it hanging from tapped one edge (not a side) and chipped the paint. It was an area maybe 1/16 wide and 1/8 long. Edges probably dont hold paint well. Oddly scratching anywhere on the body with a fingernail does nothing. Its hard as a rock. Apparently dont go metal on metal too much. Square edges might be an issue if your worried about pure finish toughness. Round things would be 100% ok. So if you want perfection and guaranteed not to chip go Cerakote. For a fun gun, fun project, etc I would go with this. This was my first time using this so there is that. There is something to be said for doing it yourself. A satisfaction you get. Is the finish perfect? No. But neither am I! Me and my gun are one.
more like tan 499
This came out very close to fde. It has a slight hint of green to like 499 tan. I sandblasted my parts first. I sprayed 4 coats using a heat gun to keep parts warm between coats. I then let it set at room temp for 2 weeks. This works well and any dings or damage can be easily repaired. I wanted a good looking finish that I am not afraid to use.
Good,but
For the price this works good for coating guns. The only draw back is. It is satin not matte. And it leaves a slight ruff texture.Once the coating dries. You can use some scotch brite to dull the surface.
Great coating, matches magpul fde
Very durable easy to apply coating. Color does not match the cap, but does match Magpul FDE almost perfectly. No performance complaints, would rate 5 stars if the color had matched the cap
Good durable finish work
I found this product to be very easy to apply. And it dries to the touch pretty quick. However it takes days to fully cure so give yourself plenty of time to allow it to setup hard. I found that all the comments about clogged nozzles can be avoided by simply turning the can upside down and do a short spray to clear the nozzle of paint before it dries.
Not bad
I did take 1 star off due to color. The grey does have a little hint of green to it, as per other reviews. However, I think it looks good for my project. I received hand me down shotgun from my dad, that apparently sat most of its life in the dampest corner of the house, so there was some pitting rust on barrel. Had metal sandblasted, then cleaned well with brake cleaner. Alumahyde went on fine for me but I am in Florida in the middle of summer. Left the can outside in sun for a while, then shook can like it owes me money. Never had any clogging in tip, but I did shake pretty well as I was spraying. I used 3 good coats on the barrel, action tube, receiver, and trigger module. Let it cure in storage shed for almost 2 full weeks, and it looks good.

Great color
Great product spray very light coat for first coat wait 15 minutes then apply next coat. Repeat. Very durable coating after curing time
