Awesome powder
Been using this powder for over 13 years and it has never let me down. With varget I get excellent results with .223 with low sd. Its also great for .308 and 30-06. If you own a 6 dasher Im sure youre burning a lot of varget. It shines like no other for the 6 dasher. Give it a try and you wont regret it. Theres not much stuff that I can say negative about this powder. But if I had to, than I would say. Its metering. Not the top but not too bad.
Very consistent burn!
Clean burning and very consistent powder. It's one of those that just goes fast unfortunately so your better off getting a bigger batch than a pound. Doesn't meter the greatest but it doesn't seem as dense as something like IMR 4895 so it's not the worst I've used in a powder measure either definitely doable. I've only used Varget for. 223 Rem so far but it's pretty versatile and seems to buck the weather really well and I live in Ohio so the weather is never consistent lol! I usually load my .223 by hand anymore so I can maintain consistent charges but I purposely loaded a 2 thou variance and it remains plenty consistent so I would have no problem using a powder charge with this powder. It's starting load in Lyman 50th almost hits 3k fps so it just works well especially with 55gr FMJ!
Good powder
This stuff seems to make a smaller bang every time i pull the trigger compared to other. Real comfortable to shoot and seems easy on the rifle. I can get 10 shot groups around 1.5 MOA at a 100 yards out of my AR15. This is using brass that is not match grade and fired several times. Also using a regular bullet seating die that is not all that consistant coupled with a non match grade barrel. I am pleased and will buy more.
Awesome!
I load 42 grains behind a 52gr V-max. Tremendous accuracy in my Savage 22-250. Prarie dogs inside of 400 yards don't stand a chance.
Good Choice
Very similar to RE-15, which is my preference for .308win and .223rem. Having said that, when RE-15 is unavailable, I don't have a problem turning to this as a backup.
Used with great results
Used this powder in my .308 reloads getting excellent groups at 100 yards. Looking forward to seeing the results at 200-300 yards.
Hogdon Varget Powder
I have used Varget exclusively in reloading .223 Rem and .308 Win for 5 years. The consistency has been phenominal. A chronographed 5 shot string in .308 Win using 190 grain Sierra MatchKings fired in my F T/R rifle ran 2555 FPS with a SD of 2 and extreme spread of 6 FPS. Can't ask for much better than that. With the same load at 600 yards, I am getting consistent sub- 1/2 minute vertical dispersion.
Product outstanding, Price a little steep.

Great for .308 Win
Used IMR-4064 in my .308 Win for years. Accuracy was consistent, but not great. Switched to Varget last year and what a difference. Using 150 & 165 gr. hunting bullets I am getting sub-moa groups consistently --- and that's with a hunting rifle, not a target rifle. My only complaint is that I am not reaching the velocity I'd like to have, but that is minor due to the increased accuracy.
