I have tried several different bedding compounds, even regular Acraglas. The GEL is way easier to apply and work with, yes does get sticky, Use some acetone and it comes off with ease. You can use different pigments also for different colors.....

I've been using this for forty years , I've welded all sorts of broken stocks together with it over the years. For glass bedding rifles it is simply the best there is.

I bought one of these kits about 12 years ago to bed a old 8mm Mauser, the action that had gotten so loose in the stock it literally shifted about a 1/4" back while pulling the trigger Bedded that gun then put the kit away till a few months ago when I needed to bed a second rifle, much to my suprise the contents was still in good condition and worked perfectly I have since bedded 3 actions with the 4oz kit and have enough left for probably 1 more rifle Bear in mind I only bed the recoil lug and receiver area and not the barrel, I free float those The original Mauser that had been so loose has fired over a thousand rounds since then and is still tight and secure in its bedded action, the Rem 788 is still tight at the recoil lug I bedded with it after many rounds and the Rem700 I just finished pillar bedding and bedding the action on came out as nice as the first Mauser years ago Unfortunately my kit is all but gone now so back to buy more I did have to order a new bottle of release agent about a year ago when I did the 2nd rifle but they sell that here as well and I bought the large bottle of it Since Im doing a lot more gun work now Im back to buy the 16oz refill, the mixing cup and measuring spoon in the original kit I still have since I clean them thouroghly after each use, as such all I need is the gel and hardenier For anyone just starting in bedding work this is the easiest Ive found to work with personally A 4 ounce kit will bed from 2 to 4 guns depending on how much waste you have and it can be stored for long periods between uses if sealed tightly I only wish I could buy the die packs individualy without the kit but I haven't seen those yet If your wonddering about it pick up a kit and give it a try, this Gel type is easy to use, durable and makes a definete improvement in your group size Well worth the time and $$ RemMax
Hard to improve upon.
I have used Acraglas for more years than I wish to count. It's only problem was the danger of running into areas not intended. When the gel version came out I was thrilled. Solved my issues and remains a great product. I always keep a quantity on hand for numerous types of repairs and have used it to bed well over a dozen stocks for myself and many more for friends. Just be sure to plan your job carefully and do your "due diligence" when it comes to release agent and taping and you will be pleased.
"Would use nothing but this product"
I've bedded approximately 100 rifles. This is the only product that I have used for the job. Results have always been stellar! Recently, I refinished the wooden stock on a hard hunted and target shot rifle. I did the bed job almost 20 years ago on this rifle. It was one of those perfect bed jobs. I was worried that the stripping solution might damage or soften the bedding material. Besides the stripper, I also soaked part of the oil soaked spots of the stock in acetone to remove all dark spots. I did tape over the bedding, but of course the stripper and acetone did soak through. Even after 20 years and all those chemicals, the bedding remained perfect and never softened or was affected in any way. I reassembled the rifle after the refinishing and it again shot perfectly. This speaks volumes of the longevity and durability of this product. I'll never use any other bedding compound.

Restoring old Springfield Trapdoor stock
Let me start by stating that I have never worked on a gun stock before. I was told by the shop I bought the gun from that the stock was not repairable. I have never been so pleased with a product. After a week of glueing in 5 odd shaped pieces of wood, installing 19 pins in seversl major cracks, molding in missing features, and finally bedding the barrel into the stock, I have a 140 year old piece of wood that I am proud of. Just the solid sound when you hit the side of the assemblied gun tells it all. Other than having to stain the stock quite dark to make everything uniform, I can't think of anything negitve to say. I used both acraglas and acraglas gel, preferring the gel for its ability to stay where you put it. For filling cracks dents using electrical tape to mold the area worked great.
perfect product for wooden gunstocks
I am an amateur gun builder. I have used this product for bedding barrels in 3 full stock flintlock rifles, curled maple with octagon barrels. its simple to use, cures rock solid yet flexible enough that it doesnt crack when I pull the barrels for cleaning. The barrels fit tight enough that when prying it from the stock I bow the wood a fair distance. the release agent is amazing. makes initial barrel removal simple. I am making another purchase now.
great chain saw repair
im a logger and fire wood cutter. i sometimes break a gas tank or grip on my husqvarna saws. this stuff is tuffer than the tank it self, and lasts forever. bedded all my 700s to. great.
