SHOTGUN SIGHT INSTALLERS

SHOTGUN SIGHT INSTALLERS Reviews & Ratings

The 'clean' installation of aluminum or brass shotgun sights has always been one of the bug-a-boos of the gunsmithing profession. The Shotgun Sight Installer exactly fills the need for a truly precision instrument with which to install a shotgun bead without a mark - satisfying even the most particular gun man. The holding jaws are internally ground and lapped to give maximum holding surface on the globe of the sight without marring or damaging the metal. Priced at a level any gunsmith can afford, yet will give a lifetime of service.

SPECS: Available in aluminum or steel.

NOTE: The Three Pack Set contains one of each size. Three sizes: Lg. .175'; Med. .130'; or Sm. .067'.

Steel jaws too tight
I got the steel 3-pack, and when they arrived, they were covered in what was like soot. After cleaning them, attempted to put on the collet nuts. Very tight. The jaws of each of the tools were so stiff I could not get a single bead in any of them. The medium one does not seem to have a deep enough opening to accept a bead. Even with the collet nuts off I could not get a bead into any of the tools. If I were to get a bead of any size in one, I'm afraid it would be damaged by the jaws. IF I keep them I will have to deepen the cuts for jaws to flex. As of now, they are useless to me. I may try the aluminum medium, but am wary.

Large Steel Shotgun Sight Installer
This item is not as described. The opening says it will fit a bead 0.175" in diameter. My replacement bead site is 0.15" and will not fit the 0.11" actual opening in the tool. Very disappointed in this item and do not recommend this item.

Sight installers
I was really looking forward to using these but they are not very good. You cant tighten up on a sight to remove or replace. Very disappointed

Not very useful
Bought the steel set last week, very dissatisfied. My toolbox has a junk drawer for tools that are basically useless and thats where they will stay.

1 star is to good for this item
This product was a complete waste of manufacturing effort and consumer dollars. Maybe one of the worst purchases I have made in several decades. I cannot recommend this tool as it did not work at all and lasted about 20 minutes before depositing it in the recycling bin. To say I was more than extremely disappointed is an understatement. 1 star is way to good for this product rating! I generally am not this critical of tools and equipment but my aforementioned statement tells it all.

I should have looked at the reviews
They do not work. I bought a set of three and I tried several different sizes of beads and they would not fit or tighten down on the bead. Now I am stuck with a complete loss because it isn't worth the money to return them. Pick another product and please look at the reviews. I had originally purchased to install a new mid bead on my K80. I have both sizes of mid beads and the tools would not fit either of them.

Junk
Have a gunsmith do it, if red loctite was used you have to heat it, which melts sight bead. They say it their video to use heat gun, literature that comes with product says use torch, sorry but if red loctite was used that could melt solder that holds rib. Overall a bad idea and product, poor customer service.
1
Unimpressed with these installers
I ordered these installers hoping they would function better than the steel installers I have but they don't. The jaws on the smallest size have to be pried open to function and the vice type head has to be tightened with pliers to hold the bead in place with each tool. I would suggest trying another tool instead of this set. I am not impressed with either set of these tools.

Steel Sight Installers
Very heavy duty. In fact I had to pry the jaws apart with a small screwdriver to use them. Black finish came off in my hands. Had to clean all three tools with solvent before use. Not happy with steel set so I've ordered the aluminum sight installers to replace the steel installers.

Spend Your Money On Something That Works
The jaws on these are to heavy & too stiff to open & close. Not what you want when trying to close on a small bead.
