Solid performer, simple
Been using these mags for 7 years now. No rust yet. Follower design engages slide stop every time I run empty, and the feed lips are holding. If you reload semi-wadcutters, load up a few dummy rounds first to get the case OAL correct to ensure flawless magazine function. The only negative I can think of is that the great follower design is tricky to remove for magazine cleaning and inspection.
promising but no
on the positive side, this is one of very few magazines on the market with hybrid feed lips. Which means it feeds as 1911 was designed to feed, or close to it. And, it's a flush fitting 8rd magazine, which is nice. On the negative side, 1) it consistently fails limp wristing test through the top 3 rounds and 2) it overrides the mag catch, which is not a trivial failure. It remains to be seen if this can be remedied, but as it comes from the factory this magazine is unfortunately unacceptable.
Dont buy.
If you put 8 rounds in the magazine then it wont fit properly in the firearm, take one round out and it will fit fine. I bought an 8 round magazine just to hold 7 rounds. Spend the extra money and buy a product of higher quality.
No HP or SWC
i bought 6 of these earlier this year, as arrived none would feed high performance .45-185gr-HP or .45-185gr-SW. when i went to open the feed lips to decrease the feed angle, the feed lips cracked on 3 of the 6, making them useless. buy something else.
Breakage/wad feeding problems
Had floorplate fall off, MF replaced with one that wouldn't feed 190 gr lee wheelweight cast semi-wad. Other mag worked fine.
Poorly Made
Bought 10 of them, opened 2, both were defective, could not get the rounds to feed, same ammo fed fine in my other magazines. I returned all 10, don't order these, they need to be pulled from the market.
Do not buy - baseplates have poor welds
I bought two of these about two years ago and I've just had the baseplate fall completely off one of them. The culprit is the poor job done affixing them; only four small spot-welds hold the baseplate to the tube. Don't touch these. They might fail you when you need them most.
Sub part welds
I received two of these mags for use in my 1911 and BOTH of the base plates broke off in the same manner. I had seven round in the mag and when I tried to chamber a round, the base plate fell off, along with the spring, follower and the rest of the ammo. I will never buy these again.
