What is the BROWNELLS - Oversize Weaver .146" -48 Screws 12 Pack?

OVERSIZE SCREW SHOP KIT

Slightly larger in diameter than the common 6-48 scope base mounting screw. Most holes "ruined" while drilling or tapping can be fixed; just retap to .146"-48 and install. No need to redrill base or gun. Thanks to Doug Knowt for his tip.

Excellent kit
I had a Thompson Contender that the threads in one scope base mounting hole stripped out. I order the tap and screw kit to repair the threads. It worked perfectly.

Saved my rifle
I bought these to save my Savage Model 110, pre-accutrigger rifle. I purchased second hand and when I went to mount a new scope, one of them just kept spinning... I purchased the tap and screws to oversize them. A little cutting oil (which wasn't needed because hardly any material was removed) and cut the new threads. The screw fit perfect and saved the rifle from the scrap heap. One thing to note; These screws have larger heads on them. So I had to modify my scope mount to fit the screw head. Otherwise, they work perfect.

Perfect Solution
Someone "gave me" a 10/22 Charger. I thought it odd but I thought it to be a great deal. The only problem was that the two rear pic rail screws were stripped out. I re-taped and installed these screws. I cut them to the exact length and - perfect fit and fix. Couldn't be happier. I'll bet he is sorry now!!

Excellent!!
Purchased a 541S at the local gun shop,not realizing three of the four base holes were stripped until trying to mount a base..This kits bottoming tap and the included oversize screws(after shortening to length) saved the day..Worked perfect,worth every penny. Thanks Brownells!
