POWER CUSTOM - Hammer Sear Package

This kit was so reasonably priced that I took a chance and bought it. As this was the first time I had taken the trigger apart I took my time and was careful about fitting it but it really was easy and I had it done in about half an hour. The improvement in the trigger pull was brilliant. There was a very small amount of light take up and then the trigger broke cleanly. The pull measured a shade over three pounds on my Lyman trigger pull gauge, but for some unknown reason it felt much lighter. At the range I sat three of my grandchildren ages 10, 12 and 14 behind the 50 yard bench using RWS R50's. The eldest lad shot first, 4 shots in one hole in the ten ring and one shot just a fraction to one side in the 9 ring. The second lad did the same, 4 x 10's and 1 x 9. Then the youngest lad put all five shots in one tiny hole that I could cover with my small fingernail, in the center of the ten ring. They could not have done this with the heavy stock trigger. Is this a perfect trigger ? when I compare it to the most expensive custom trigger on the market, which I also have, it doesn't fall far short. If I score the expensive custom trigger 10/10 then I would score this kit 9/10. It must be the best value for money trigger upgrade out there and in this respect I would give it 10/10.

The original triggar pull on a 10/22 is horrible. With this hammer and sear you get the trigger pull down to just over 2 pounds. Easy to install and a quick fix to make the 10/22 more accurate.

As many have noted in reviews of these parts in another package offered by Brownells, you get what you pay for. While the resulting trigger pull is somewhat improved, you pay for it in aggravation, and other problems. I installed this in a 10/22 takedown with polymer trigger housing and a very heavy abrupt factory trigger pull. First, the enclosed "instructions" are horrible. Most of it is nothing more than advertising for other Power Custom products. The actual instructions mostly involve fitting parts OTHER than what was purchased. The only thing of any value included is a miniaturized (really small) black and white REPRINT of a parts diagram for the 10/22 trigger housing. That's it. Nothing at all on how to install these parts. You literally get a bag of parts with no guidance. Second, the video by Brownells attempting to rectify this lack of instructions isn't much better. It's rushed, incomplete and poorly illustrated. Third, the enclosed springs are nearly identical in length, number of coils and thickness as the factory parts... it is nearly impossible to tell them apart, and if inadvertantly mixed, you're lost. The springs should have been painted so you would know they are replacements. But that would have cost an extra 3 cents. Fourth, after finally watching and reading enough other sources and getting this together, the resulting trigger pull - while lighter and with minimal overtravel - was a creep-fest that was gritty, jerky and completely not present in the factory parts. The kit has NO pre-travel adjustment, despite the video mentioning this and the "instructions" warning about it. I had to disassemble the trigger housing again, and found that the "vaporware" finish was applied overly poorly polished surfaces. Even after taking some fine paper to them, the jerky creep remained, albeit smoother.
