Amazing, a shorty that requires zero tuning!
Slapped this on a custom Wilson Combat lower. Threw a Swampfox 1-10x on it and was immediately pinging steel at 100. Ran 300 rounds of M855 (cheapest ammo I own) and was blown away by it's accuracy, dare I say sub-moa with m855? This thing must have been made by wizards! Zero failures, brass ejected into a nice pile at 3-4 o'clock. Recoil felt the same (almost none) as my LWRC 16". I'm now a PWS fanboy!

Add to my original review
I see that I didnt say it was an 11.85 length barrel in the original comment. Since I wrote the original comment I have added an Ultradyne Apollo Max muzzle brake to an already outstanding setup. It made it even more of a soft shooter. This upper is surprisingly accurate at 50 and 100. 1000 rounds and only getting better.

If you want a piston AR, this is the one...
Your average SoCal shooter (crazy I know to think CA has a strong shooting community but we do and we go HARD in the paint) who bought this upper as a gift to myself because why not? I have always loved and wanted a PWS gun. Big piston guy over here and love my AK, so I wanted a piston gun, didn't love my MCX like I thought I would, sold it, and flipped it for this. I should've bought this from the start. Accurate, lighter than other piston guns, but still heavier than DI, FLAT recoil, awesome company. Already have almost 1000 rounds through it, and with some hard strings of fire and no problems. If you are looking for a hard use upper, this is the one. I run this upper on a Radian ADAC lower, SOLGW VLTOR Tube, Geissele Super 42 rifle spring, VLTOR A5H1 buffer, Geissele SSA-E trigger, and man is this a flat shooter. I changed the CH to a Super Charging Handle because I love those more than Radian and a Surefire 3-Prong FH, and this gun is the best. I put heavy as a "Con" but it's not a con but it's a lie to say its light. Dense but not cravy heavy or front heavy like the MCX that's for sure. This set up posted above is about 7ish-7.5 pounds unloaded as a heads-up.

Excellent upper
I like piston AR's and heard to check out PWS. When I first got this I thought it kicked pretty hard but yet I heard on line that these were smooth for their size. It took a little experimentation with the adjustable gas set on 2 instead of 1. It would fire every round but last round hold open didnt happen. I installed a AR10 buffer tube with the anti tilt and 8" depth, a Tubb flat wound AR10 spring which is 3" longer than AR15, and a Kynshot 5000HD hydraulic buffer. I couldnt get over how much better and smoother this upper was with that configuration. No hiccups of any kind. The difference was night and day. PWS told me to use the H3 buffer originally but I opted to go this other route because I have all my other guns set up that way with the exception being the Kynshot which is a little heavier than what I normally use in my other guns. Originally the kick was so hard that if you did a mag dump it would push you back. Now it feels amazing. That setup smoothed it 40%.

Nice piston upper
I went to the range this weekend to zero the upper with my scope & iron sights and it did very well. After getting it zeroed I got about 2-3 inch groups but I believe I could have done better but old man hand & eyes need help. The piston system is different from other piston systems as they have a rod connected bolt carrier so you can't swap with other piston carriers. The rod & piston can be separated so you can clean the piston if you want & remove the charging handle with the slot there so that makes cleaning easy. I highly recommend this piston upper for those who are considering a 16.1" 223 Wylde piston upper.
