Works on original Armalite AR-18/180
Yes this will work on an original AR-18/180. The design and dimensions of this repro are within original spec. If you need one as a spare or as a replacement for your original Armalite brazed key charging handle this is it!
Loose tolerances
Tolerances on the round portion that inserts into the socket on the side of the bolt are excessively undersized (-.008”) creating excess “Wobble” of the charging handle. At least It fit into the socket. Tried an aftermarket cylindrical (round) one that was .002” oversized and would not install into the bolt socket and required turning down/sanding/polishing to fit. With all the labor & time to rework the aftermarket one, and loose fit of the OEM, I question whether these designers/engineers work with manufacturing to establish reasonable tolerance schemes to properly assemble and serve optimal functionality.
