COLT - AR15A4 Extractor Spring Assembly

So far so good, bought it and have put about 200 rounds through my Ruger 5.56 and haven't had any issues, easy installation and it's great that it doesn't require any other parts (O-ring, gasquet), no complaints from me...

I got to be the most interesting guy at the range when I replaced a weak extractor spring with one of these fixing a gun that had issues. I put one in all my guns. Cheap insurance and a fantastic part. I keep a bunch on hand at all times.

A must-have for any new or used BCG. It eliminates the need for the o-ring insert. The spring itself is of much better quality and thicker gauge than many other extractor springs, leading me to believe it will have a much longer service life. Best upgrade you can get sub-$5.

This newest extractor spring / insert does away with the need for the donut. Genuine colt part that works well and is somewhat hard to find.

These seem to have just the right amount of tension, unlike the Springco …which have a bit too much (with the alleged benefit of better longevity with Springco; Brownells carries both, thankfully). The Colt parts snap right into the extractor recess without too much effort, and the M4-correct black inset is perfectly formed without any excess flashing, and also has just the perfect amount of tension for all gas system and barrel lengths. The copper washed finished is also M4-correct and presumably is heat treated and the proper heat resistant steel. Using this Spring and others, a few other key parts …all available from Brownells, I haven’t had a single malfunction since 2006 and thousands of rounds through various Stoner-pattern AR-15 & AR-10/LR-308 rifles.
